Words cannot express our sadness in losing Russ. Watching him grow up and becoming such a gentleman and honorable soldier was very rewarding. There are so many great memories. I had the pleasure of working with Russell... always upbeat and never said a harsh word about anyone. So very sorry to hear of his passing. He had a beautiful life, and so many that obviously loved and will miss him dearly. I only knew him professionally, but still this has hit me very hard. I looked back and found an email I sent to him after he transferred from MCTSSA (to Bridgeport), wishing him a Merry Christmas & Happy New year in December 2010. He stopped by and chatted with me after that... so poignant now. RIP Russell.

Aunt Suzie, Rachel and family, I had so many wonderful memories of Rusty and Rachel when you both were kids. I also enjoyed some of my trips to San Diego and we had a chance to visit with him.

I was always so proud of Rusty and his service towards our country. He was a true American. It made me proud to know, he was named after my dad, Russell. My sympathies to the whole family. Jimmy

I am so sorry to hear of Russ' passing. It seems like yesterday we were at our 20 year class reunion catching up on life after High School. I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation and was so happy to hear about all that Russ had been up to, including his service to our Country as a Marine! I've known Russell & Rachel since grade school. I am deeply saddened at the loss of a great person like Russ. He touched the lives of so many throughout his many years in the Marine Corps and we who worked and played with him will deeply miss him. I remember Russell as a great guy. He was kind, funny and made me feel exempted, which for me in our school,wasn't easy. He was fun to be around. He was one of the very few people in high school that was truly a friend to me. I am sad to here of his passing.

Our hearts ache knowing we will never see Russell's smiling face again. I am grateful for all the wonderful memories my husband and I have of him.
