Russell Scott Collins POCATELLO - Russell (Russ) Scott Collins, 49, went home to be with his Heavenly Father while hunting on Tuesday, October 23, 2007. He was born March 28, 1958, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Cyrena Howell and Allen R. Collins. Russ attended schools in Pocatello and graduated from Highland High School.  He married his lifetime sweetheart, Pam Hawkes, on May 1, 1976. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on December 12, 2006. They had their beloved son, Nicholas Collins on February 18, 1981, and their beloved daughter, Katie Collins on April 7, 1983. Russ owned and operated his own roofing business for 26 years. He was a past member of the Juniper Hills Country Club.  He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as a Scoutmaster and Young Men's leader. Russ enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and horseback riding with whoever would go, and especially with his granddaughter, Taushlyn. He also enjoyed making Dutch-oven cobbler for friends and family, sitting by his pond, snow skiing and boating, reading and swapping books with his mom. Russ is survived by his wife, Pam Collins, Pocatello; children, Nicholas and Katie Collins, both of Boise, Idaho; granddaughter, Taushlyn Collins of Belgrade, Mont.; his father, Allen (Linda) Collins, Pocatello; his mother, Cyrena (Carwin) Egbert, Chubbuck; siblings, Rick (Pam) Collins, Terry Lynn (George South) Slaven, Kristy (Steve) Piper, Chuck (RaeAnn) Buerstatte, all of Pocatello, and Laura Buerstatte of Chubbuck; and all of his beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, R.J. and Marge Christensen and Morris and Sarah Howell, uncles, Cary Dean Collins and Morris L. Howell, and his aunt, Deborah Burback, and his mother-in-law, Frances "Punky" Freeman. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 27, 2007, at the Mink Creek Ward Chapel (8200 W. Portneuf Road), with Bishop Efrain Velasquez officiating. The family will meet with friends and relations Friday evening, Oct. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. Fourth Ave., Pocatello and from 1 to 1:45 p.m. at the church on Saturday prior to the service. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Russell Collins Education Fund at your local Idaho Central Credit Union branch.
