His Life

A native of Gleason, TN., and the son of the late James and Mattie Dee Scott, Russell retired from the U.S. Army after over 20 years of service. He also retired from the Columbus Consolidated Gov't, having worked 18 years at METRA.

He was a member of Greater Enon Missionary Baptist Church, Gleason, TN., where he was active with the Deacon and Trustee Ministries. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings, James, Jr., Ellis, Joe, O.C. Scott; Mae E. Scott and Mattie B. Gibbs. Surviving are a loving, devoted wife, Elsie Marshall Scott; one son, Bernard R. Scott; a step-daughter, LaDevra Cary; twelve grandchildren, Kelvin Scott, Lazarick Hill, Angelita Cary, Larrisha Cary, Tia Cary, Keith Childress, Jadzrah Scott, Mariah Scott, Mario Wood, Taysean Wood, Tobias Wood and Demetrius Cook; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Bernice S. Grogan(Clarence) and Delores S. Bridges(Tony); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
