Recently heard a podcast with Mitch Albom, the author of "Tuesdays with Morrie."
Morrie was his amazing mentor, and he asked that Mitch promise to stop by after his passing to still have their talks. Mitch says, "...but Morrie, you won't be able to talk back!?" ... and Morrie says, "...make you a deal, you talk, I'll listen!"
You're still one of the best mentors I ever had. You're still the man!
We thought he was a pretty good guy. His own children, nephews, nieces and all other children loved to be around Russ. Now future generations will get a glimpse into his life and understand why we held him in such high esteem. Now we can relive those moments and memories at any time we feel a need to be with Russ. Of special importance they are captured for his posterity. Future generations will now have the blessing of knowing him. It is a privilege to know he had friends of your caliber.
I spent my career in business and while I met some fine people collectively and individually I do not believe I have ever been acquainted with a finer group of individuals than you. Russ was very fortunate to have spent his professional career with individuals like you. He was fortunate to have earned your respect and friendship. You have provided us with very special insights that would have been lost to us and to time.
We believe in a very dynamic afterlife. A number of your comments allude to this post mortal existence. The sting of this tragic event has been mitigated by the thoughts we will see and interact with Russ again in this post mortal existence. Thank you for your thoughts and expressions of kindness over the years.
Miss you buddy. You were a good dude man. Loved playing ball with you, talking God with you, just hanging out man.
Hope heaven is treating you well. :)

Off Roading in the Bahamas!
Speaking of Bahamas, remember that time we went out in the jeeps? I was always the only girl on the all guy team, doing hard core guy activities. The main memory is of Russ’ “boyish enthusiasm”. It was infectious and the other guys I think built off it too. On all our team building trips, I felt like I had 4 or 5 brothers. I’m sure Russ was the loudest when egging on the driver to do the jumps. I mean real jumps, just like the dukes of hazard. It was a lot of fun. I have fond memories of that enthusiasm and can hear him saying "yeah, bring it on!"
Family
Though I only knew Russ a short time, what I remember most was his nature as a father and a husband. A man that truly lite up when talking about his loved ones. What was clear was how proud he felt about each one of his children, and how much he appreciated his family. My deepest condolences to his wife, family and loved ones. May he always be present in your lives through happy and loving memories.
