Ruth D. Peteet was a Registered Nurse who had a gift for helping others. She was the rock of stability for so many of her friends and family. With her selfless nature, her life passion and purpose was evident. She was a healer.
Ruth was a caring mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. On November 1, 2021, she left this world suddenly at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey. She was 72.
On June 19, 1949, Ruth was born in Accomac, Virginia, and grew up in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
Ruth completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree in History at Rutgers University in 1979. After teaching for three years, she went back to school at the Winifred Baldwin School of Nursing, graduating with a Diploma of Nursing in 1985. Ruth was determined to better her life circumstance. She had a passion for reading, studying, and nurturing relationships and always went the extra mile with love.
She split her home between Georgia and Atlanta. During her collective 36-year tenure at Emory Hospital, Atlanta Medical, and ATC Healthcare Services, she received several awards and recognitions, including the Recognition of Excellence in 1996, the Medical Staff Recognition Award in 2002, and the Certificate of Excellence in 2013. She also received numerous employee service awards. In addition, she was known as kind and highly generous by patients, colleagues, family, and friends.

She is survived by her daughter Inka Ashley-Lassen, son Cazzie Martin, daughter-in-law Kimberly Martin grandchildren Elan Ashley-Lassen and Anthony Martin, sisters Shirley Price, Helen Faulks, Barbara Peteet, Mary Miller, Audrey Manuel, Wanda Manuel, brother Jackie Brae Manuel, and other relatives and friends.
