With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Ruth J. Newsome of Bridgeton, New Jersey, on May 2, 2023, at the age of 93, after a brief stay at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland, New Jersey.
Ruth was truly loved and cherished by many, including her children Stella Houliaras (Clermont, FL), Edna Newsome (Hartley, DE), and LouAnn Newsome (Bridgeton, NJ); her ten grandchildren, Cheri Clark Moeller (Virginia), Ruth Clark Andre (Florida), Christos Houliaras (New Jersey), Dimitrios Houliaras (Clermont, FL), Dimitra Houliaras (Clermont, FL), Joseph Newsome (Bridgeton, NJ), Michelle Newsome (Atlanta, GA), Christopher Newsome (Vineland, NJ), Debra Newsome (Wilmington, DE), and Trisha Newsome (Bridgeton, NJ). She also leaves behind thirty-three great grandchildren, and fourteen great-great grandchildren, with a special mention of her great granddaughter Gabrielle Newsome (Bridgeton, NJ) for being her caregiver until her last day.
Ruth was predeceased by Stella E. Gandy Maxwell (Quinton, NJ), sisters Pansy Maxwell Briggs (Fairton, NJ), Cora Maxwell Kennedy (Quinton, NJ), her husband Lewis G. Newsome (Delaware), and her youngest daughter Debra Newsome Rodriguez (Bridgeton, NJ).
After retirement, Ruth spent most of her life dedicating her time to her kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; she also enjoyed watching her soap operas, building LEGO's, and playing video games.
There will be no services, as Ruth wished to be cremated. The family would like to thank everyone who has reached out to them during this difficult time.
