She went to work for the Ingham County Health Department and St. Lawrence Mental Health Hospital.  She took additional schooling in Ann Arbor and then returned to the Health Department from which she retired in 1985.

After her retirement she also did volunteer work, driving for Meals on Wheels. Her seasonal work at Hudson's Department Store resulted in some very nice gifts.  She took classes, including an electrician's class.  The instructor said everyone knew enough to rewire their entire house once the class was over. She opted not to do that, but she could have.

Up until nearly the end, she remained very independent and an avid reader, always learning.  She even kept her nursing license current.

Included in the photo gallery are additional pictures of her and two of the things she truly loved, gardening and her cats.
