His Life

In loving remembrance of Ryan Simmons. Loving father of Michael, son of Robin and Steven Simmons, brother of Jonathan Simmons.

Ryan grew up in Burbank, IL. He attended Byrd 92', Luther Burbank 94', and Reavis High School 98'. He is lovingly missed by his family and friends.

Ryan was incredibly smart, and had a quick-witted sense of humor. He enjoyed playing baseball, basketball and football as a kid.  He even taught his cat Max tricks as a teenager.

He was a big movie lover, with Rocky and Superman being his favorites. (Though he would talk during all movies). Superman was one of his first tattoos. He had an unbelievable knowledge on Marvel and D.C. comics. He loved Deadpool and the Punisher. Ryan also liked to take pictures with various canon cameras he had, draw, play acoustic guitar, pool, and poker. He spent many years upkeeping his aquariums.

Ryan held various positions in the security field. He also highly enjoyed instructing Illinois State police officers firearms training, he was certified in NRA Basic Instructor Training, worked at Argonne national laboratory, and Glacier Waters. He adored his son Michael, who just turned 6 years old.

Missing you

February 25, 2019

Its been 2 months since Ryan passed away. To lose someone so close to you... its incredibly painful...

This is what grief looks like:

-Buying multiple boxes of kleenex at a time...all the time, knowing I'll need it.
- Putting my clothes away and finding shreds of said kleenex because it got washed & dried in my pockets.
-And then finding a random sock of his.
-Crying to sleep nightly, in the shower, doing the dishes, driving, hearing a particular song... anywhere.
-Staring at his stuff in the fridge daily, can't get rid of it.
-Wearing his clothes because it makes me feel close to him.
-Wondering what I should do with the rest of his ashes I have.
-Missing him so much its physically painful.
-Waking up every morning wishing it was all a bad dream, then reliving that pain of losing him all over again daily.
-Sleeping is my favorite thing to do because that's where I can see him.
- Knowing that the pain and loss is a reflection of love, I will never regret loving him with all I had.

I miss you. I know you are at peace now, but my heart is so broken without you. My days are so different. My life will never be the same. Grieving the loss of you has been the hardest thing I've ever had to do and I will continue to do so. I will always cherish all the memories we have had together over the years. You were the person who knew me the most. You will always be in my heart, and I will always love you.

You were in my life for over 26 years Ryan. And I truly believe we only part to meet again.
