A beloved husband, father and brother, Ryland lived in Richmond, VA with his wife, Nancy, and daughter, Heather, 21. He had been in Richmond for the previous 10 years after relocating most recently from Culpeper, VA. Born and raised in Covington, VA, Ryland joined the US Army and then went on to become a trooper with the Virginia State Police. He and Nancy married and lived in Williamsburg, VA where their sons were born.

Ryland had 5 brothers and 1 sister and 2 cousins who were raised in their home as brothers.  His father passed away in 1987. 

He is survived by his wife, children, siblings, and mother.

He was known and loved by many as he touched the lives of everyone he met. He was a man of strong character and great wit who was looked up to by many.
