Remembering Sadnah

June 13, 2019

Once when Sadnah was visiting, she gave me a photo of Leslie with her thank you note on the back. It's on my refrigerator with all my other family & friends photos and every time IO see it, I remember the beauty of both Mother and Daughter. I feel grateful to have been blessed by her light.

poem by Maya Angelou -

June 16, 2013

When great souls die, the air around us becomes light, rare, sterile.
We breathe, briefly see with a hurtful clarity.
Our memory, suddenly sharpened, examines, gnaws on kind words, unsaid,
promised walks never taken.

And when great souls die,
After a period, peace blooms, slowly and always irregularly.
Spaces fill with a kind of soothing electric vibration.
Our senses, restored, never to be the same, whisper to us:
They existed.  We can be.
Be
and be better.
For they existed.

To Sadnah -a great soul
