1922 - 2015 Obituary Condolences    

Salvatore "Sal" Anthony Gallo, 92, of East Hartford, loving husband for 62 years of the late Helen (Fiederowicz) Gallo, peacefully journeyed Home on Saturday, August 22, 2015 to join Our Lord, his loving wife and other family members in Heaven. Born in Hartford on November 28, 1922, a son of the late Ignazio and Maria "Mary" (Stella) Gallo, he had resided in East Hartford for over 61 years. Sal was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. Prior to his retirement Mr. Gallo was the Owner and Operator of Gallo's Appliance Store in New Haven, retiring in 1997 to care for his beloved Helen. A devout catholic, Sal was a founding member and longtime communicant of St. Christopher Church, East Hartford. He was a former member of the American Legion Post #102, Manchester. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, and loved traveling and vacationing with his wife and family and visiting the casinos. Most of all, Sal was a hard working gentleman, devoted husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed helping his family and spending as much time with them. Besides his beloved wife, parents, and siblings, Mr. Gallo was predeceased by a son, Salvatore A. Gallo, Jr. of Manchester and a grandson, Anthony S. Gallo of Coventry. Sal is survived by four children, Tina DeCarli and her husband, Eugene, of Anthem, AZ, Robert Gallo and his wife, Nancy, of Cape Coral, FL, Darlene Curtin and her companion, Stephen Lintner, of Dayville, Marie Gallo-Garabedian and her husband, Keith, of East Hartford. He also leaves ten cherished grandchildren, including Steven Saretsky, Lori and Dave Kowal, Ali and Ryan Gilman, Angela Gallo and Tommy Abate, Jason and Ashley Curtin, Kristen and Alan Coxon, Ginamarie Garabedian, Joseph Garabedian; seventeen adored great-grandchildren, including, Jaden Anthony Gallo-Abate, Andrew and Ryleigh Gilman, Brianna and Kendall Coxon, Emily, Logan, Jacob, and Alexander Curtin, Kelsey and Delaney Kowal, Michael and Michele Saretsky; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Funeral service will be Tuesday (August 25th) with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am at St. Christopher Church, 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford. (Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Tuesday morning). Burial with military honors will follow at Silver Lane Cemetery, (Section C), East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford on Monday (August 24th) from 4-7 pm.
