I knew Sam from the Amish Market. He was a friend of my dad's when they were young. He had a story about every thing and everyone. Sam was like South Jersey. He was a fixture, deep in the bones of these small towns in an ever progressing world. Like the rodeo, the speedway, old barns on back roads, and John Deeres in front of traffic jams. And Sam being gone is like a warehouse sign in front of farm fields and demolished barns. It's sad, it's wrong. And he will be missed by South Jersey.

My beloved BFF and Gangemi family, I have such wonderful memories of Sam while growing up as his baby sisters best friend. I remember him paying for me to go see a HS football game, the way we could hear him scream from the shower when someone turned on the hot water from the kitchen faucet, ( because he was getting ice cold water) and how he always called me “ Big Blondie.” He always had a smile and was always kind....to me. I remember watching him race his stock car at the track with Joanne! Wonderful memories are what keep you alive in my heart Sam! Love you always, your Big Blond!

Sam, you will be sorely missed. When I first moved to Bishop Rd. in 1967, you and John Clendining welcomed me with open arms. You were always so sweet to everyone who met you. God will have you up at the Pearly Gates welcoming the multitudes with an open heart. I am proud to have counted you as a friend all throughout our school days, my prayers are there for your family and friends.

I’ve known Sam for just about 36 years. I met him just days after his 28th birthday in 1985 when I drove to his parents’ farm to see his sister, Joanne. Being a "Ford guy," I immediately gained Sam's approval when I pulled up in my old Ford, albeit a piece of junk as it was my very first car (lol). As a teenager at that time, I looked up to Sam and admired him. He always took me “under his wing” and took me to the dirt track races, helped me with car repairs, and gave me advice and life lessons. He was the kind of person who would do anything for anybody and do it with pleasure.

I remained friends with Sam over all these years, although I didn’t get to see him as much as I would have liked because our responsibilities just got in the way. However, I would call him just to say “hi” and would run into him now and again at the Harrison House or the Richwood Wawa, where we would catch up about our lives and families. Sam was the kind of friend that no matter how much time had passed, we could pick up right where we left off.

Sam touched many lives in this world and was loved by many, and he definitely made a positive difference in my life. I have many great memories with Sam and I will never forget him. My prayers and deepest condolences go out to his entire family. You are home with the Lord now, Sam. Rest In Peace My Friend!

I met Sam a few years ago through Cathy. He was a joy to be around and would talk about anything and everything. He was very good to the family and a stand up guy. He would tell me about all his favorite Italian restaurants. Lol! One of his favorites being “Tarantella’s!” Which is now one of my favorites. Sam will forever be missed. ❤️
