Mr. Sammy Burton of Kellyton, Alabama died October 14, 2011.
Mr. Sammie L. Burton was born on February 9,1939 to the Late
Mr. Ulysses Burton and Mrs. Lenora Goggans Burton in Coosa County
where he attended Coosa County Training School and J. D. Thompson
High School, Cottage Grove, Alabama.
Mr. Burton joined Corinth Baptist Church at an early age.
Sammie made his home in Cleveland, Ohio. He was employed by Ford
Motor Company where he retired. After retirement, Sam came back
home after the death of his friend, Sadie Davis to be with his family,
where he would spend time hunting, fishing, gardening and traveling
back to Ohio selling his fruits of labor, where he became ill on his last trip
and never was the same Sammie.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Thedrow, U.L., Aaron and
Quinton. A sister, Arthelia and a dear loved one Sadie Davis.
Mr. Burton departed from this earth at his residence on October 15,2O11.
He leaves a legacy of love: A Son, Mr. Reggie Burton and Daughter, Ms.
Ray-Ray Stewart both of Cleveland, Ohio; Two Sisters. Mrs. Olenia
Tuck and Mrs. Elnora (Abraham) Parker both of Kellyton, Alabama. One
Brother, Mr. Freddie Burton of Kellyton, Alabama; One Sister-in-Law,
Bessie L. Burton of Kellyton, Alabama; Friends, Louis Goggans, Alfred
Higgins and Daniel Robinson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
Funeral service for Mr. Sammie L. Burton will be Saturday, October 22,2011 at Wrights Funeral Home Chapel at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.
