A beautiful tribute to a beautiful lady and a life well-lived. She deserves her reward.
This website was created in memory of my Mom, Sande Staub. She was an amazing mother to me and my brother, Mike. She was also a devoted sister, and doting Aunt, and a loyal friend to many. Additionally, she was an exceptional "grannie," as her grandchildren affectionately called her.
This is a place for family and friends to visit, leave a tribute, share photos and stories, and to honor her fun-loving spirit so her legacy lives on forever. She said she didn't want people to mourn her after she had passed. In her own words, she wanted her family and friends to have no regrets, to be safe and celebrate life. I hope this online tribute gives you warm memories and makes you smile. Due to Covid restrictions and cautions, a celebration of her life will be planned at a later date TBA. If you live in the Burlington Vermont area, check out the bench that's dedicated to her. It's on the waterfront boardwalk on Lake Champlain.

Sande Staub was a wonderful person and an amazing mom. Of all the many things I learned from her, she showed me what generosity looked like, she taught me that hard work matters, she showed me how to be a great host, and she taught all who had the pleasure of knowing her how to enjoy life, especially the simple things.
She was the best possible "grannie" you could imagine. My kids, Sierra and Marissa Pelino, adored her, and she was such a big part of their lives. Below is the obituary I wrote in honor of my Mom, and my tribute to her about a life well-lived that was never short of fun, laughs, and the occasional limerick!

Sande Staub never met a stranger. At hello, you could feel her warmth and openness. She was known for her outgoing personality, infectious laugh, and million-dollar smile. She passed peacefully at home on March 13, 2021, at age 72.
Sande hailed from Dayton, Ohio. As a young stay-at-home mother, she volunteered at St. Peter Catholic Church in Huber Heights, Ohio and coached softball. She took pride in making her home a welcoming, revolving door for family and friends. Her generosity knew no boundaries. Later in life, she reinvented herself. With an unmatched work ethic, she built a career, holding various roles, including bookkeeper, instructor and business manager. Her work at Wright Patterson Air Force Base provided exciting opportunities, including a trip to Japan, a career highlight.
She enjoyed leisure time on the golf course and cruising in her red convertible. It suited her perfectly. She traded her life in Ohio for one in Vermont to watch her grandchildren grow up, and that she did for 21 years. Her grandchildren, Sierra and Marissa Pelino, were the light of her life. Weekends at "Grannie's" rivalled a top-notch summer camp, equipped with crafts, musical performances, bike rides, baking, and a bounty of sweet and salty snacks. She cherished and embraced every minute with them.
Her collection of friends was as varied as her interests. She accepted others as they were and always showed her true, authentic self. Sande found joy in simple things, such as good company and basking in the warm sunshine on a beautiful day.
Beloved mother of Michael Staub and Pamela Staub Pelino, sister of Harold (Spike) Mouser, Deby Boss, and the late Sharon McCoy. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly, and countless friends in Ohio, Vermont, and beyond.
In Sande's honor, a memorial bench bearing her name adorns the Burlington, Vermont waterfront. Her fun-loving personality will be forever missed, but the memories remain in our hearts.

Mom and Aunt Sharon went on a cruise together when they were in their 60's. I don't have any photos from their trip, but this is a great trip of the two of them. They had LOTS of good stories from the cruise! It was one of Mom's dreams to go on a cruise and I'm so glad she was able to go.

Sande was an artist at baking up a good story. She could collect the ingredients, mix them with flourish and pop them in the oven until baked to perfection. The final outcome of the story was truly a delicacy to be taken with love and laughter. Many of us will always remember her for a frozen bread stick story. I miss you and loved you. Pam and family, thinking of you and sending hugs and vodka and "cranberry".

99 Trivia Night Friends!

Thursday nights you could find Mom at the 99 Restaurant in Williston Vermont for Trivia Night. She loved her trivia night friends and the 99 staff. She showed up with a pen behind her ear (a Sande Trait) and was always ready to play! She was a bit like Norm from Cheers at 99 because everyone there knew her. When she showed up, she always livened things up. Sometimes, she shared a limerick, but she always brought her fun attitude, infectious laugh and a broad smile. This photo is a toast from a few of her 99 friends.

Mom always wanted a convertible. And her favorite color was red. In her mid 30's and 40's she sort of reinvented herself. She started doing things she's always wanted to do, and she bought herself the red convertible she dreamed of. She loved that car. It seemed so perfect for her. In this picture is my Grandfather in the back and my brother, Mike, in the front seat.
