Sandeep (Setu) Shah!!

February 16, 2021
A meaningful Life is not being rich, being popular, or being perfect...it is about being real, being humble, being strong & being able to share ourselves & touch the lives of others. Sandeep Bhaiya's Life is a True Testament to this.                                                                                      I knew Sandeep Bhaiya as we were next door neighbors in Mumbai & while I'm younger than him, he & Manish Bhaiya always called me Asha Didi!! I have fond memories of growing up around him...He was always so full of life & always so positive. He did everything with a full heart...be it playing Holi & rubbing that gulal on ur face & making sure he got you good, or playing Garba or Dandiya in his flamboyant filmy style, or singing his favorite " Ek Chatur Naar" or playing the tabla on a table while singing or whistling some Bollywood tune or screaming " KAI PO CHE" while flying kites during Makar Sankranti or screaming "Out Hai" while playing cricket with the neighborhood Boys.

Nitu(Nipuna Ben for you) & me used to tease him & call him " Setu" (Seth) cos he always had a Positive Attitude & lived life like a BOSS!! He had a way with Kids & Adults & blended in perfectly in any age group. I will forever regret not visiting him in Dubai. While I write this for my Dear Sandeep Bhaiya the lyrics to the song "Channa Mereye" keep playing in my head...Achha Chalta hoon Duaaon main yard rakhna ..Mere Zikr ka Zubaan pe swaad rakhna.....Tere rukh se apna rasta mod ke chalaa..Chandan hoon mai ..Apni Khusboo Chhod ke chala..

Right now Sandeep Bhaiya is  probably creating a ruckus in Heaven & driving Panna Uncle crazy. He's absolutely loving all the attention we all are showering on him but He hopes we always remember Him with a Big Smile & live our lives the way HE did - KINGSIZE & WITH A SMILE!!

I met Sandeep via Mona and Jayesh Parekh when visiting Houston first in 1983, then in 1987, and then in 1989, when I got married to Apoorva Kamani. Sandeep, along with all the other friends in Houston, helped plan our wedding (neither Apoorva nor I knew many people) and took part in every event so that we could truly feel like we belonged there. They all sang, danced, helped take care of every detail, and were always there to make it all happen smoothly! Apoorva and I send our condolences on the sad passing of Sandeep. It is hard to imagine he is no longer with us, and it just isn’t fair, but as someone mentioned, there was a need for people like him elsewhere and so he was taken away from us. We pray his soul will Rest In Peace. He is in a safe place and will forever look upon everyone as an angel. Love and best wishes, Sharmila & Apoorva (please see some photos we posted.)

Sandeepbhai unfortunately I met you only few times but it seems that I new you for life time, your singing, your laughter and the way you called Neena’s name 100 times in a day. I wish we could do this more.
In our heart you will hold a special place.
“Do you know a men is never dead while his name is spoken””
Will miss you Xx
