Sandra’s family would like to thank all those people (individuals and groups) who partook in the International Candle Lighting Ceremony to commemorate her life. The scope of participation was overwhelming and heartwarming: a true testament to the love and enduring relationships that were fostered during her life. Thank you also to those of you who sent donations in her name to the chosen charities and to those who posted such beautiful messages. We are truly honored by each and every gesture of love for our mother.

The journey of Sandra's life provided her the opportunity to make friends all over the world. Given the impracticality of gathering all those people in one place, it is the family's wish that Sandra's friends and family (wherever they are) participate in an international candle lighting ceremony on Saturday March 23, 2013 at 5pm (USA CST) = Sunday March 24, 2013 at 9am (Australia EST) to commemorate her. Each person or group of friends is invited to perform a candle lighting memorial in the manner in which they feel most comfortable with – maybe a moment of silence, a prayer, a poem, a passage, or a personal message to read while the candle burns.

This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Sandra Tabbernee, 71, born on December 6, 1941 and passed away on March 13, 2013. We will remember her forever.

Such a crazy year! A year lost of hugs, a year lost of kisses and a year lost for so many families. Luckily I will never loose the feeling of love because you instilled it wonderfully... Yesterday Joshua noticed Sandra‘s last stitch on the wall. I was able to tell him how much you loved Needle work. I was able to share with him the story of how auntie Marion in Australia was able to share such a wonderful gift in completing a Needlework for each of your grandchildren. You had so many wonderful friends. Thank you auntie Marion and Margaret for reaching out to us on important days like today.

Thank for teaching me to be "present" when listening to friends and family. I miss you so today Mum. Your picture is on the frig and your warm smile still calms me and helps me do the right thing. I miss your voice so much. Last week the boys built graves for you and nana Subie in their Mine craft worlds...I love how present you are in their worlds.

We just lit a candle for you Mum it will burn all day. Scott said a prayer in Hebrew and the boys helped. We miss you terribly and remember all the love and light you brought to our lives. Thank you for all your kisses and cuddles... I'm so lucky to have boys who love to kiss and cuddle too.

Happy Birthday Mum,we all miss you so much. This year music is my focus for our boys. I wish you could have seen their holiday program...you would have been so proud. They sang their little hearts out. Joshua sang Hebrew songs and Kai just loves to sing...wish you were here to teach them. I will always remember your beautiful voice and treasure our memories singing together.

Mum, I love and miss you so much. Yesterday as we were pulling into the driveway Josh said "home again jiggity Jog" I don't think I've said that for a year. It was nice to hear it again. Today I saw a butterfly in the back yard it's amazing how your presence through butterflies and owls really warms my heart. I listened to your angelic voice today as you sang O Holy Night. It brings me to tears every time because I am so proud of such a talented Mum and so sad that I can no longer hear your voice except for in my heart. I miss our conversations, I miss you and your amazing support and love, I love you always

Joshua and Kai keep getting phone calls from Nana Sandra and hand me their toy phones. You are the only one who calls. At first I was heart broken every time this happened but now I enjoy telling you how proud I am of them and what they have been doing right in front of them. They love this. Happy Birthday Sandra...I think of you often. We were able to visit Michelle and the boys this year, and it was grande! They are so vibrant and lively...real little people. They are distinctly individual and still they are clearly twins. She has been and is a wonderful mother and friend, you must be so proud watching over her and her family. You are dearly missed my friend. May God's love and eternal peace be with you.

I met Sandra at seminary, Phillips Theological and we became classmates and friends. I saw her again after a car accident she had driving back and forth from Enid, Tulsa, and OKC. She shared her life with me and I am glad we met when we did. I will miss her laugh and smile and wisdom. Love and prayers to her and her family, kids, grand kids and great grand kids!! At the Winter Haven Relay for Life I did the service to remember loved ones lost to cancer, I lit a luminary for you and for Jenny.

Fond memories abound from the many hours we spent caring for our children's new born twins. Rocking, walking, feeding and feeding some more;those dear little tiny boys. What a loss the world has experienced in the homegoing of Sandra. She was a joy and a delight. As I visited her on a weekly basis for about 2 years while in seminary--she always knew the right thing to say. It may not have been easy to hear but you always knew it was said in love and compassion. I thank God for her love and support during that time. I will never forget dear Sandra.

Sandra is the reason I am now in college to get my social work degree. I spent an hour a week with her for over 7 years. She has been my inspiration. After I 'graduated' from counseling, all the tools she gave me carried on. I still hear her voice when I'm at a crossroad. I will get my degree and make her proud. She was a beautiful lady. I love her dearly.

Sandra was my counselor for over 7 years. She walked with me through all of of my pain and saw me through to the other side. The side where I found joy in life. Sandra was the most loving, caring person I have ever known. She truly loved without judgement. She was one remarkable lady. She was so proud of her family, her grandkids.
