OBITUARY - Sandra (Sandy) Owens Hooten, age 72, passed away from complications with cancer on May 24, 2021 at her home in Cahaba Heights in Birmingham, Alabama.

Sandy is survived by her son Preston Clay Hooten, and her husband Hoyt Hooten. She is preceded in death by her son Danny Preston Messamore. Sandy was born on October 25, 1948 to her parents Robert and Edith Owens.

Sandy worked as a nurse and a wonderful mother, wife, and nanny to others’ children. Sandy had an excellent sense of humor. To know her was to laugh with her. She also had a heart which knew no bounds regarding the love, respect, and forgiveness she gave to other people.

A memorial service/celebration of life has been scheduled for Sunday, May 30, 2021 at Homewood Church of Christ.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made in her honor to either the American Cancer Society or the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
