Sara Ann Bolt, loving mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on February 22, 2022 at the age of 93 surrounded by her family in Birmingham, Alabama.
Sara was preceded in death by her late husband, John W. Bolt, and is survived by her three children, A.W. Bolt (Kelly), Donna Dahl (Brad), and Bill Bolt (Dixie), as well as her eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Sara was born on April 28, 1928 in Shawmut, Alabama to Harold and Frances Prichard, the second of their three children. After finishing high school in West Point, Georgia, she graduated from Auburn University in 1949 and began her life-long love of all things Auburn.
It was Sara’s generous service to her community that set her apart and made her a role model for her family. Always one to pour into those around her, Sara spent her life loving and serving others at First United Methodist Church in Anniston. For over twenty years, she delivered Meals on Wheels. Everyone especially loved her “bread ministry;” she baked and delivered more than one thousand loaves to family, friends, and those in need. These are some of the numerous examples of Sara’s heart and her ability to love others well.
We express our thanks to Kirkwood by the River, an assisted living community, and the staff that helped make her last years enjoyable and comfortable. We also thank those who helped care for Sara at Grandview Medical Center and Affinity Hospice for assisting in making her transition to the end of life as peaceful as possible. We are so grateful for the care and attention of all.
In honor of Sara and her life-long commitment to service and community, we ask that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to First United Methodist Church at 1400 Noble Street, Anniston, Alabama. A memorial will be held at Kirkwood by the River in Birmingham, Alabama at a later date.
