Sarah Evelyn Isobel Payne, 8, disappeared on Jul. 1, 2000, from a cornfield near the home of her grandparents, where she had been playing with her brothers and sister. On Jul. 17, 2000, a farm laborer found a girl's body in a field, some 15 miles from where Payne had disappeared. She was found raped and murdered.
