1988. I was a school bus driver and Sarah was assigned to my bus. It was always a pleasure to pull up to the house and see Linda and Stephen waiting with Sarah, all with a smile waiting. As the school year progressed Sarah became more and more outgoing, always sweet, and so kind, soft-spoken and gentle. In February I got engaged and was planning the June wedding. Sarah would hear me chatting with Linda and took an interest in the wedding, soooooooo guess who got invited! When I walked down the aisle my eyes immediately found Sarah at the end of a pew, with Linda by her side. Sarah was dressed so perfectly, in her very best dress....and was so very beautiful. I've never forgotten that vision, and although the marriage did not last, I always had sweet memories of that moment in time. Sadly, we did not keep in touch. I only recently learned of Sarah's passing and am deeply saddened. God must have needed one more perfect angel. Rest in peace, darling girl.....you touched so many lives and will never be forgotten.

I came across this poem today and want to share it.

A meeting was held quite far from earth.
"It's time again for another birth"
Said the angels to the Lord above.
"This special child will need much love."

Her progress may seem very slow,
Accomplishments she may not show,
And she'll require extra care
From folks she meets way down there.

She may not run or laugh or play,
Her thoughts may seem quite far away.
In many ways she won't adapt,
And she'll be known as handicapped.

So let's be careful where she's sent.
We want her life to be content.
Please, Lord, find people who
Will do a special job for you.

They will not realize right away
The leading role they're asked to play.
But with this child sent from above
Comes stronger faith and richer love.

And soon they'll know the privilege given
In caring for this gift from heaven.
Their precious charge, so meek and mild
Is Heaven's Very Special Child.

Sarah did run and laugh and play.  She loved life to its fullest and had many accomplishments.  She was not the same as many others, but who in this world is not unique.  She was our special child who presented us with challenges along the way, but did she ever bless our lives!  Sarah you were a precious gift to all you met!  We love you and miss you every day!

Sarah had just had her hair cut and I loved the way she looked so I took her picture.  Of course, Sarah had to embellish it with her favorite things in her signature style.

In Sept 2013 we visited the Turkey Hill Experiance with Sarah an John and got to make our own ice cream (not that good but we had fun).
