Sargent Eldrid Iceson, son of Mary Alford and the late Joseph Iceson of Newnan, Georgia was born June 19, 1942. He departed this life Monday morning, November 21, 2011.

As a child, he attended North Side Elementary School, Central High School and he attended St. John Baptist Church at a young age.

Sarge as he was called, was the only man we ever knew by the name Sargent that never enlisted in the Service. Sarge moved to Atlanta, Georgia as a young man. He traveled many places and lived there, but he made his home in Brooklyn, NY for many years. Sarge became a professional barber, who cut many Entertainers hair and an artist who loved to draw people faces. His house was a gallery of portraits, many of whom you knew and you might find your picture too.

Sarge had many talents, such as landscaping and design, where he used his talents to shape trees and shrubs. You always knew that Sarge had been there. He was a fun kind of guy.

Jesus came into his life as his personal saviour. He found the peace of God and joined Fellowship Christian Centre where he worshipped until he could no longer attend. But his heart was there.

He had one brother to precede him in death, Joe Lewis.

He leaves behind his wife, Lucille Iceson; son, Marcus Iceson of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Montavius, Demarius, Shenye and Chance; mother, Mary Elizabeth Elder; sisters, Betty (Richard) Watson of Newnan, GA, Rebecca (Max) Riley of LaGange, GA, Shirley Hayes of Newnan, GA, Marian (Anvert) Lattimer of Newnan, GA; brothers, Willie Charles Iceson of Newnan, GA, Clinton (Evie) Elder of Sharpsburg, GA, Calvin (Clara) Elder of Newnan, GA, Danny Elder of Newnan, GA; aunts, Helen Johnson of Madris, GA, Margaret Riley of Stone Mountain, GA; uncles, Johnny Alford of Atlanta, GA, Cleveland Alford of Atlanta, GA, Bobby Alford of Newnan, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and many other family and close friends whom he loved dearly.

My name is Kashina and Sarge was my uncle, I am the oldest daughter of Calvin Elder. I didn't see my uncle Sarge often but the times I did see him were one of a kind, never a dull moment. He wasn't perfect, but he was fun to be around, He would always make me laugh. RIP you will never be forgotten.

I did not get to say good by to my old friend. I will always remember Sarg as a dearing young man. He and I were friends when we were very young. He drew a picture of Mr. Wilbon Clay and me, a friend found it in the trash and brought it to. I will frame it it keep it in my personal collection.
