Scott Clay Johnson was born on October 6, 1958 in Oklahoma City.  He was the third youngest child of Herbert Hoover and Carla Olsen Johnson. His early childhood was spent in Houston, Texas where he attended Hunters Creek Elementary. Young Scott would spend his days playing in the Buffalo Bayou and bring numerous creatures back home to show his family. Once he brought home a baby Coral snake. He was proud, his mother was petrified!

His family moved back to Oklahoma in 1969, where he finished the rest of his grade school at DD Kirkland and junior high at Hefner. He attended Putnam City High school where he met his wife, Jeanne Holder. He attended OSU Tech and Redlands Community College.

He worked a few years in construction in many capacities,including framer, brick tender, crane operator.  In the early 80’s he started his appraisal career, beginning at the OK County Tax Commission as a field appraiser. In the late 80’s they moved to Orange County, CA.  They returned to OK, where he worked for the State of OK ad valorem Tax office. In 2000 the Scott Johnson family moved back to the Houston area. He was a building inspector for League City. He was a member of IAAO. He earned his TX residential appraisal license and worked for Brubaker and Associates, later earned an advanced position for BNC as a Review Appraiser covering TX and OK. His final endeavor was starting his own business, Scott Johnson Appraisals. He could build, repair, renovate. He enjoyed guessing the value of properties or cost of renovations on HGTV shows.

Scott and Jeanne first met at a church lock-in December 1976. They were brought together again in Mrs. Smith’s Algebra II class during his senior year. They were wed at Metropolitan Baptist Church on May 23rd, 1981. They had two children, Jeremiah Johnson and Rachel Johnson. The family also included 5 Boxer dogs over the years: Daisy, Brutus, Ginger, Amber and Bruce Lee. Cats included Sammy, Cottonball, Mario, Sofia and Sasha. He loved parrots. They enjoyed traveling, including road trips to Austin, Boston, to the Great Salt Plains. Johnson's adventures included flying on SW Airlines to  Washington, DC to visit his parents, San Francisco, South TX and FL beaches, Animal Kingdom and Disney World. His favorite beaches were in Cancun and the sugar sand beaches of the Florida panhandle.

Scott was an active member of Shekinah Fellowship Church in OKC. Scott and Jeanne taught Sunday school for the 2’s and 3’s. They attended Lakewood church and Abundant Life when moving to Houston. He was passionate about real estate, action movies, and home renovations. He loved reminiscing about funny situations. He enjoyed being around people, having cookouts and family gatherings. Scott’s smile and presence could light up any room.  He was always trying to make people laugh or talk about past adventures.
