Charles shares a few wartime stories
Charles would often share his wartime memories with his 3 sons Godfrey, Joseph and Noel. Here he is in 1989 at a Christmas family gathering. He shares the story of the sinking of the SS Haulerwijk, a Dutch merchant ship that Charles served on in 1940. The photo opposite is that of the SS Haulerwijk.

The Welsh Revival
Charles was very influenced by the history of the Welsh Revival which took place in 1904. He read many books on the subject and would often refer to the great revival preachers of that time, notably Evan Roberts.
