In Sharin's Memory

July 16, 2013

Sharin told me to tell people not to buy flowers.  If they wanted flowers to plant a plant in her memory.  She had a little tree she had planted in memory of Naomi Cotton. We were just down in Guatemala working with some wonderful people who help the Mayan people in a way that enables them to work for the support of themselves and their families.  We felt that Sharin would be equally happy that some people would receive live saving treatment through her memory.  Please take a look at www.mayanfamilies.org if you would like to help some really wonderful people in her memory.

Sharin's Baptism into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

June 24, 2013

After the death of her husband Bob, Sharin's "old Uncle Dwight" visited her at her home in Hawaii.  They talked for many hours about religion. Sharin started to have a desire to better understand God and the purpose of life.

Early in May Sharin became very ill and was life-flighted to Queens hospital in Hawaii. It was during this time that my son, John, and I went to help her.  She was in excellent spirits for one so sick but she was very intent on understanding more about God's plan of salvation for his children.  After returning with her to her home,  she requested that the missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints visit her and teach her about Jesus Christ's gospel. Sharin started discussions with the missionaries while I was there and continued after I left.

On June thirtieth I called her to see how she was doing. She joyfully told me that she was going to be baptized the next day. My family had the privilege of listening to the service that preceded the baptism and confirmation via speaker phone the next day. She was so happy to have increased understanding of God's plan for his children and to have the baptism ordinance performed by a priesthood holder who truly had God's authority to act in His name.

Delano Dwight Cotton's Memories of Sharin Lin

June 24, 2013

Sharin and I were good friends all of her life.  Once when she was very young I saw her when her hair was really messy. I called her Brush-pile and she loved it. From then on I called her Brush-pile. She signed her letters to me Brush-pile.  Just to make theings even she called me Da-Wight. I talked to Sharin the day before she passed and it was still Brush Pile then.
