This is not a typical obituary as my momma was far from typical. She was the brightest spot in the lives of those who loved her. She had the tiniest body with the biggest heart.
Sharon was born in Peoria, IL on March 13, 1947 to John (Jack) Scovil and Shirley June (Mason) Hull. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Marty, sister Johnnie and step-father Kenneth Hull.
Sharon grew-up and lived in Peoria until her early 30's. She graduated from Manual High School in Peoria. In 1972, she gave birth to the love of her life, Holly. She named her Holly because her birthday was so close to Christmas and almost a new years baby! Sharon and Holly lived in Peoria for the next 8 years.
Sharon dreamed of a better life for her and Holly and made one of the bravest decisions she could make - she moved Hopkins, MN. She knew that was not going to be easy and yet she did it for her "baby girl". She often worked two jobs to make it. She also had the support of many life-long friends. Sharon spent most of Holly's teen years on a mission to embarrass her whether it was singing in ketchup bottles at restaurants, partying at First Avenue, attending motorcycle rallies - on her OWN motorcycle, and dressing far too hip than a "Mom" should. Holly's friends were constantly telling her "you have the coolest Mom"... and eventually Holly truly did know that she really was the coolest Mom!
Sharon did not forget her friends and family in Peoria. That would not be Sharon - the more friends and family the better, she just added more life long friends and family in MN.
Sharon found her niche and began a career in the insurance / benefits industry. Of course, she excelled and spent 25 years building a career and of course making more life-long friends; she retired in 2011.
Maybe you have picked up on a theme - 'life-long friends'. It was not hard to be Sharon's friend - she was outgoing and loved people. She was fun to be around and had a true zest for life that was apparent to all who knew her.
In 1997, her name changed forever to Gigi! It was even noted on her license plate in FL! The next love her life entered the picture - Mason James. If ever a grandma could be so proud. Gigi was always very involved in Mason's life... she loved dancing with him, chasing his "naked butt" around after baths as a toddler and making chocolate cake for him for breakfast whenever he visited he in Florida.
In 2002, Sharon was reunited with long time high school friend, Mike Lentz and the two were bonded in marriage on November 20th, 2004. These two soulmates, united in their hatred of cold weather, were pulled to be near the sea and moved to Largo, FL. There they spent time with beloved friends, enjoyed countless days together on the beach, and welcomed many visitors with open arms.
In 2006, with practice under her belt and the name Gigi it was only fitting for the next love of her life to enter the picture. Logan Michael. If ever a grandma could be more proud. She loved baking with Logan and making him laugh. Gigi had 2 grandsons that she found in her own special way to love them both so very much. She was their biggest fan in all things. She always tried to do something special with each of them...lunch dates with Logan, trips to watch Mason play Lacrosse when he was in NC, taking Logan and buddies to Wisconsin Dells and most recently a trip with them both to a secluded and primitive campsite in Duluth. :) Making them both feel special and loved was her utmost priority! She tortured them both by writing them poems and notes in dreaded cursive and Holly would always need to translate for them.
The hatred of the cold weather was no match for the love of her grandchildren and her 'baby girl'. Gigi had to be closer to them and in 2016, she moved back to MN. The boys made her a Rosemount Irish Fan - she even found some fashionable Irish gear. Yes, the boys could get Gigi out on a cold winter night to watch a hockey game :) Gigi and Mike enjoyed being able spend time at the cabin, watch Logan play hockey and lacrosse, visit Mason at school in Eau Claire and helping with lots of projects.
Gigi and Mike headed south again this past winter - this time to split time - winters in FL and summers in WI - yes I said WI. Why - you guessed it, so Gigi could be close to her boys and baby girl at the Cabin during the summer. Mike and Gigi got a summer spot in WI very close to the cabin.
Gigi loved entertaining and was the Queen of Appetizers and all things cream cheese. She enjoyed crafting just about anything and loved decorating her home. She treasured her friendships and family and adored spending time with those she loved and cared about. Her vibrant personality was infectious and she had always had a button that said "Don't Hate Me Because I'm Upbeat". She loved music and loved to dance even more....anywhere. Anytime.
Gigi passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at her home on January 5th, in Palmetto, Florida.
Gigi you will be missed and never forgotten. I hope you are dancing on tables up there Mom.
Sharon is survived by her devoted husband, Mike (Ralph) Lentz. Loving Daughter and Son-in-Law, Holly and Jim Priebe. Cherished Sisters: Sally (Scott) Brethour, Tamara Milus, Jill (Rick) Wilcoxson. Beloved Grandsons: Mason Hille and Logan Priebe. Dear Nieces & Nephews: Molly Hull, Nicole (Todd) Greenhalgh, Lea (Eddie) Holocker, Aaron (Cristen) Milus, Samantha (Benjamin) Brune, Josh Milus, Kayla Scovil, Alex Molleck, Jackson Molleck and Shane Wilcoxson. And many, many beloved family and friends....
A Celebration of Life is being planned for this summer in Minnesota as well as Peoria when we hope to be able to all gather together safely to honor and celebrate Sharon. Once details are finalized we will post information on this website.
