Mr. Shawn David Strickland was born to Schnett B. Harris and Marcia Strickland (deceased). He was born on February 8, 1970 in Dayton, Ohio.

Shawn was educated in the Dayton Public School system. He attended The Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School. While at Dunbar, Shawn played football this was the beginning of a lifelong love of the sport. Shawn was and is an avid Dallas Cowboy minus (Dak Prescott) fan.

It has been said that dogs are a man’s best friend. Shawn had many best friends during his life. He loved dogs especially pit bulls. Shawn’s favorite pass time was fishing. He was a man of few words and found solace in the quiet peacefulness of the lake.

Shawn had a drug problem at an early age. He was drug to Sunday school and drug to church at Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church by his grandmother Laretha Harris. It was there that he was introduced to Jesus Christ. This is a habit that Shawn returned to later in life as he attended New Life Church with his Aunt Judy. The bible says, “Train-up a child in the way in which he should go and when he is old it will not depart from him.” Praise God!

Shawn was preceded in death by his mother Marcia Strickland, his sister Tia Strickland and his nephew Ricky Turner, and an infant daughter. As well as his maternal grandparents Lassie (Jordan) Strickland and William Strickland Sr. His paternal grandparents Laretha (Beard) Harris and Roscoe C. Harris Sr.

Charmelle McCullough (sister), Darnell Beans (brother) and Aunts: Judith Strickland, Vicki Dixon (Morris), Wanda Hodge, Carolyn Stamps, and Dossie Watkins (Bishop Alton Watkins) Uncle: Willie Harris (Alda) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins.
