Sean I have always appreciated your warm spirit and enthusiasm for life. You have always radiated a bright light of energy and true love. For this I am blessed to have encountered paths with you here in this Earthly world. May your light continue forever!

Shawn was the definition of a great guy. Although he was always busy working hard, he made time to have a nice chat. I will always remember our talk about drinking mate, and be reminded of him when I do. We will all greatly miss him.

I am shocked and saddened to return from the holidays to this sad news. I knew Shawn very briefly but it was always great to see him and work with him. He was very funny and always brought great ideas to the table. My condolences to his family and friends--peace to you all!

You and I didn't have much of an opportunity to speak at length but I always detected an undeniable sincerity and all-around good-heartedness in you whenever we interacted. In a time when so many are lacking these qualities, you will long be celebrated for having these great qualities, amongst others, as the cornerstones of your life's foundation.

We have some sad news to share with you today, Shawn Roberson passed away this week. This news shocks and saddens us.

Shawn was a key member of the Sales and Market team, and most recently the U.S. Commercial team, and he was a long time member of the engagement team, the Energizers, and the HSE Council. We have been in touch with Shawn’s family and will share additional information about how others can help more broadly once Shawn's family have time to reflect on this.

Shawn was a part of the DE family since 2011. He built strong relationships throughout the organization and was always ready to help anyone who needed him. Shawn was passionate about making the workplace better for all of us and he loved bringing people together to celebrate, to show appreciation, and to get to know his colleagues better. 

Everyone who came into contact with him appreciated his kindness, his smile, his dedication, and the energy he brought to everything he did. Shawn truly made a difference at DE and he touched so many during his time here, words can’t express the loss and sadness many of us feel right now. Many of Shawn’s friends at DE have already started to share their memories of Shawn. If you want to share your own memories, we have started an online memorial for Shawn. 

As we hear about service arrangements, we will share them. In the meantime, please keep his family in your thoughts. If you feel you need some extra time to reflect and process Shawn’s passing, please speak with your manager or member of the HR team.

We are very sorry for our loss of Shawn. He will be greatly missed.

Shawn, you will be missed by everyone in the office. It was such a loss for us to see you go so suddenly. I will always remember you as someone with the kindest heart who loved to volunteer to help others, a true team player who I never hesitated to ask for help and advise. Thank you Shawn for being such a wonderful person and leaving us with great memories and lasting impressions in our hearts and minds.

Shawn was kind, sincere, trustworthy and funny. To summarize in one word, pure. Shawn was pure. He was the closest to an Angel than anyone I know/knew. This tells me he was called home because he was too good for this world at this time. His spirit will live on in many of us. There are too many fond memories of Shawn for me to write down, so instead I will reminisce with friends at the office and extend his spirt unto others. It itches me that you are gone friend, but my experience with you despite how short and mortal it was, will travel with me for years as a bright light. I miss you! Rest now.

You always lifted my spririts and made my day a little better everytime i spoke with you. i loved your infectioius personality, your kind-hearted soul and you truly cared, really cared for people. You made the workplace better and i know you loved your family fiiercely. You will be missed and my prayers for your family.

Until few days ago I was sharing knowledge with him on Tableau and it is hard to believe that he isn’t with us anymore. Shawn, You will be missed, dearly! At the end of a long working day, you always came by (each day), "Curtavia, Don't stay too late." Or a few days(not many)..."Shawn, You have to turn the lights off, this evening." Your wonderful sweet spirit is contagious and I will miss your SMILE! 

Shawn!! That smile, that kind soul, those quick qips and that helpful nature. When you joined the company, who knew you would touch so many? Of course we will all miss you terribly. You touched our hearts and our lives. You were a wonderful man to know. I will pray for your family and my freinds because this is a tremendous loss for all of us. I know you are in a good place, watching football, caluclating the averages and smiling that wonderful smile!

Gonna miss you, man. I had the great fortune of being able to get to know you at DE. We've witnessed you get slammed with work, but it never prevented you from taking on additional responsibilities outside of your role. You had a great work ethic, and you did it with a smile. You always talked about your family, and we know you loved them very much. My thoughts and prayers are with them.

It is no secret that this world has suffered a tremendous loss. Shawn was such a joy to be around, had a selfless character, and never failed to make you laugh. Just watching how he treated others every day makes him an inspiration. In this time of sorrow, I can't help but think about how grateful and lucky I am that I got to meet him. From reading the tributes of others, I have the feeling that I am not alone.

There are many people I went to high school with. As the years go by you forget names and faces. But there's always people that stick in your head. You remember them for their good nature and kindness, their sense of humor, how they always seemed to make people feel good and smile. Shawn Roberson was one of the most caring individuals I have ever encountered in life and anyone that knew him will agree that not a single bad bone existed in his body. He made life in and out of the office so meaningful and pleasurable by displaying a level of concern and joy that was unmatched. Because of those characteristics, Shawn was one of those individuals that you could count on for almost anything, whether it was assistance or just a good old fashion conversation. One can also agree that his work with the engagement team brought a tremendous amount of delight and plenty of smiles to Sales & Marketing employees because Shawn had a passion for pleasing people. Simply put, other people’s happiness was his happiness and one can’t help but identify with Shawn because his warmth and outlook on life made those around him feel like they were a part of his family too.

True to his values, family was the most important aspect of Shawn’s life and he spoke constantly about them, whether it was his brother or his unparalleled love for his niece and nephew as if they were his own kin. His Chicago charm and memorable laughter will always remain in our hearts and thoughts alike. His presence at Direct Energy was felt by many and now we will certainly miss the energy he brought in his absence. He will be missed and I hope that he touches the lives of others in heaven as he has here on earth.

I will miss you!! You were my co-worker, my friend and my brother! Words can not describe how I feel about our friendship. Thank you for the love and grace you are shown me for the past 4 years.

Shawn, Your beaming smile always brightened my day. You cared so much for everyone around you and you were so devoted and always there to help. Passing by your desk on the twelfth floor will never be the same.

You were literally my mentor since I started working with you over 3 years ago. I will continue to cherish the selfless energy that you displayed in always putting others first. It was abundantly evident by your actions that your motive was to make things better for others, not bring glory to yourself. You perfectly embodied, "Work hard, play harder."

You were a gentle giant who never let anything stand in the way of what you wanted to accomplish. You were always smiling and available to assist where necessary. As I worked with you through many events, you never once complained about being overworked and never knew the word “no”. You set the example of a being a great leader and building team spirit among everyone and demonstrated what it was to be positive, encouraging and pushing through life’s obstacles.  You can rest peacefully now. God has spoken “job well done my servant”.

Going to miss you, buddy. Few people are so genuinely caring, friendly and selfless. I know you'll have a great time wherever you are.

Shawn, you never failed to say a kind hello when you saw me. Thank you for your amiable disposition, and my sincerest condolences to those who were close to you.

Shawn, even though I had just started working with you here, I will be forever grateful for the many laughs and great times we had together hanging out. You were one of the first and few who always made me feel welcomed and at home and for that I will never forget you.

Shawn above all was a wonderful family man. Everything he did was with his family in mind. My father was fortunate to be treated like a brother by Shawn and I was even luckier to have him as a cool uncle. I’m so very thankful we were great family friends; from letting me spin around on his work chair as a kid to giving me a helping hand at DE. He will deeply be missed.

Shawn - I will so miss your happy greeting whenever we crossed paths. I am so sorry for this loss to your family and all of your friends. You are certainly missed by many.

What we all feel today, speaks to how people like you make of DE a family. Although this news come with a lot of grief, we will remember you with the same happiness you always radiated.
