Shirley was born on November 25,1945 to Robert and Ruby Storey. She departed this life onOctober 3, 2018. Shirley married her first love James C. Franklin on August 4, 1961 in Birmingham, AL. She began a career as a cafeteria worker for Jefferson County Schools where she worked for over 30 years. Shirley devoted time to serving the community as well as her church. She was an Eastern Star member and belong to the Carter Success Chapter. Shirley loved her family and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She leaves to cherish her memories: devoted husband, James Franklin; daughter, Gloria Franklin (Eddie Gatson Jr.); granddaughters, LaToya Carter and Erica (Tyrun) Tarver; grandson, Eric Vaughn; great grandchildren, Zoria Vaughn, Markel McMullen, Christian McMullen, Lauren Walker, Jeremiah Vaughn, Latovia Vaughn and Leilani Jackson; sisters, Bevilon Longmire, Carrie Storey and Ruby Robinson; brother Sanford Storey (Virginia); a special sister in law, Betty (John Earl) Storey and a host of other relatives and friends. She proceeds in death her daughter, Teresa Franklin; brothers John E. Storey Sr and Robert Lee Storey Jr. and parents Robert and Ruby Storey Sr..
