Her Life
September 2, 2014

Mom was born one of 10 children on a farm in Louisa Ky. Early on, family was important to her and that remained throughout her life.

When she was eighteen she moved to Columbus, OH. I was born when she was just shy of 20. She gave me the wonderful gift of my sister Carol when I was two and a half years old.

When Gramma became ill, Mom moved us back to Louisa to care for her until Gramma passed. By this time Grandad was sick and needed hospitalized in Columbus. Mom worked, took care of us and Grandad until he got well enough for us to return to Louisa where we stayed until he passed.

Carol and I were blessed with another sister Angela when Mom was 29, followed soon by Alice. Times were tough. Mom worked at a factory in Mt. Vernon where she remained until the plant closed.

When Mom turned 50 she met and married Glenn. They bought the Village Inn in Utica where Mom remained the rest of her life. She loved the bar, loved the people and was proud to be a part of Utica. She was called "Mom" by everyone and was always there for all of us. After beating lung cancer in 2007, she could no longer work the bar, but lived above it and still could be seen at different times of the day or night talking and laughing with patrons.

The last three years of her life, Mom started failing. She was having more difficulty breathing, walking and needed help; Carol provided that every morning before work and every night after work, doing whatever she could. Angela made sure her pills were set up every week and helped get her to her doctor visits. Alice visited on weekends and since I could no longer climb her steps, Mom and I talked daily on the phone. Those were tough times, watching Mom struggle but she never gave up until the very end.

Mom loved and was loved; she truely Lived, Laughed, and Loved and she will be forever a part of out lives and live on in our hearts.

We love and miss you MOM!!
