This memorial is to honor the memory of Shirley L. Benoit.  She passed away peacefully on Tuesday April, 21, 2015.  We'll never forget her witty personality, her love for reading, and the passion she had for her family.  Her spirit will forever guide us!

The song playing in the background, "I'll Fly Away", was being boldly sung by several residents at the home in the cafeteria just on the other side of her room when she quietly passed away..............................  We were told this by the staff at the home where she lived.  A fitting tribute to an amazing women!!!

Ms. Shirley was my grandmother and I loved her dearly. Her witty comments and funny stories, as well as her strong hugs, will always be carried with me. I love you!

I thought I'd share one of many interactions I had with her. She was so to the point with anyone she met. We spent so much time together and I would often laugh at her about the way she would interact with people.

She lived at Regent Care in The Woodlands. She used to always tell me I was just like my dad, STUBBORN!!! Well, just before she passed while she was in the hospital and I told her that I had gone by the home and updated everyone about her condition. She said that no one cared about her. I said, "Mom, you're wrong, there was at least 10 people that approached me as I walked in and asked how you were doing". She paused for a moment, clearly caught of guard by my response, and said............................"Oh, that's nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" She was a pistol..................

Well, to continue, I had told her about one of the care takers there named Tiffany. Tiffany is a God send. She loved checking up on my mom and never backed down from her. So my mom tells me that there were only two people that she ever met the she could never get the upper hand on. One, was my dad (feel free to fill this one in on your own) and the other was Tiffany! Well, she said that she'd love to see the two of them go head to head!!!! We were rolling talking to Tiffany about this the other day!!

My mom used to say there were two ways to do things...................

Harold's way (my dad), and the wrong way!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently Tiffany was the same way, although, I don't get the impression she's at all like that! My mom was so determined to control every environment she was in, (I know where I get it from) that she never backed down from anyone!!!!

Kirk,
Although I never I met your mom I can tell she was a great person because of the great son she raised. I am sorry for your loss and Debbie, Katelyn, and myself are thinking about you and your family.
God bless my man!
