When I came to say I love you , and to tell you good bye, I couldn't understand what you were saying, because of the bipap on your face. As I looked into your eyes and you into mine, I understood what you wanted to say , as I'm sure you felt the same way with me. Our parents never had to say I love you to us kids, we just knew. For 70 years we spent together as sisters and as friends we seem to always understand each other. As you were only a little over a year older than me, you let it be known you were the big sister.when I did something wrong or that you didn't approve of, all you had to do was give me that look. I knew right away I had to straighten up. Sis I've missed you since that evening and I miss you today. I'm sure I'll.miss you the rest of my days. I'm sure God is with you, same as Mom, Dad, baby Johnny and many more family members.Ill see you again.love you with all my heart.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Nell. She was the best friend to my mom and such a wonderful person with the most beautiful smile.  She was such a a comfort when I was losing mom, and when she and Buddy showed up at dad’s funeral, it was so comforting to all of us.  The many, many years of friendship between them and my parents! I wonder how many cups of coffee they visited over? Just doesn’t seem right that we have to say goodbye - although it’s only temporary.  We will all meet again! Love to you all, miss you and the good ole days.  Awww, the memories! I’ll never forget the California Raisins Halloween!

Momma you were my best friend, my personal therapist, my backup, my rock! I am completely lost without you! I know I will be for a long while. But your not suffering and for me I'll take the trade.

I am happy knowing I was with you all my years. We talked everyday and we both knew the love we shared.. it was deep. I will miss our talks and being able to call you or see you. I'm glad to say I have no regrets. If I had one it is that I couldn't be with you for the weeks you were fighting. But even then we talked until we couldn't then we videoed. I thank God I got to hold you before you left. Always always you will live in my heart ❤

Her Life

Nell's Life

February 12, 2021
Nell was born in Loraine Texas in 1949. She grew up in west Texas. Her parents were Ralph (Edell) & Leona (Pearl)Parker. She grew up with 5 siblings; Gene, Duwayne, Bub, Dorothy and Norma. She spent summers in Rosco, Texas at her Granny & Grandads. They later moved to Arlington where she went to school.

She married and had two children, Wes & Cheryl. She later remarried the love of her life Buddy Allen and proudly added two more daughters Lisa and Blinda.

They lived in Mansfield where they built a very successful masonry business. She worked as a waitress for many years and later worked hard with Buddy on the Masonry Co. They were successful enough they retired the company and moved on to Colorado once their kids were older.

Nell and Buddy opened a cafe and Motel that too was a HUGE success. They were particularly good at buying and remodeling homes and businesses.
Some claims to fame are The Brown Burro cafe and the Hand hotel in Fairplay, Colorado.
After almost 20 years in Colorado and meeting many friends there that became family they moved on to Mesquite, Nevada,  Parsons, Kansas and then came full circle back to Texas to reunite permanently with family. She has 4 children, 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren.

Nell found a new love in painting there in Mineola, Texas where she joined the Mineola League of Arts and won some nice ribbons. She loved her family very much and especially her grandbabies.

After a long battle with covid she passed peacefully in hospice where family was able to be with her.

Hey sis, we were running buddy's back in the day! Me you and Buddy, and I think we stayed out of trouble. Ha, well over the years you have always been there just like you have been for so many others. I will miss calling you, and us talking about what is going on. My sweet sister I'll see you in glory one day before long. Love you always.

Nell was my mother-in-law and friend. For the last 16 years she loved our children, and baked countless special deserts for them, (always from scratch), did loads of crafts with them, sat around the fire with them and told stories, and turned Mineola into a gathering place on holidays or anytime. Her kitchen table was always open for a meal, some laughs, and a game of 42. I loved Nell, and still can’t believe she’s gone.
Nell was a gifted artist and she would hand paint birthday cards she sent. Last year mine had a beautiful  sunflower on it, and Luke’s had a painting of Marie Lavoe with her voodoo hair! I loved the way Nell would take ordinary items and upcycle them and create something useful and beautiful.  Nell and Buddywere an example to many of us of what deep love looks like. She’s free now, and I will think of her as a guardian angel. We all miss you Granny Nell, and hope your enjoying a game of dominoes in Heaven with your mom and dad. ♥️

Nell and I were childhood friends along with her brothers and sisters.  She would come to Roscoe with her "baby" sister to visit their grandparents. Spent many  fun days together. My first trip to Arlington and 6 Flags  Over Texas  was  with  " Shirley LaNell Parker" >> she had the most beautiful dimples  that lit up her smile like the sunshine. I'm  blessed to have had you in my life, love you my for ever friend ❤
