ForeverMissed

This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Shirley Meetre, 65, born on September 27, 1949 and passed away on January 14, 2015. We will remember her forever.

Shirley was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She loved spending time with her daughters and grandchildren.  She had a contagious smile and always had a kind word to say to those around her.  She was an amazing person, always positive and happy, and looking for ways to help others.

We are overwhelmed by the love and support each one of you has given to us during this time. We are honored and humbled that you all wish to share in remembering our beloved mother.

As requested by Mom, there will be a private memorial for her immediate family.  We truly appreciate your understanding in this matter.

We are blessed to have you as friends and loved ones to share in our lives. Although we know many of you would love to be here in support of us, instead of your presence, we would be honored if you would share memories, special moments, or pictures that you have had with Mom throughout her life.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to http://www.lmsdr.org/smeetre.php

Shirley was a wonderful sister. She constantly gave of her time and talents to others and was truly a caring person who never met a stranger. Her creative ability was unmatched. I'll never forget those incredible birthday cakes she made while the kids were growing up. Neither will I forget all we did together. She was beautiful, hard working and one of those rare people who filled the world with love her whole life through. I will miss her very, very much.

Ms Shirley always did have that smile that would light the room.
I can remember having so many talks and leaving the conversation that someone understood what I was going through. When the American Red Cross closed, I went to work in side the Walmart and behold there she was with that smile and a great big hug. She was one wonderful person to know. I am so proud to say I knew Shirley Meetre. Now I have another angel looking down on me and smiling with that wonderful smile. God bless her family and loved ones.. I just want to say one more thing Thank you Ms Shirley for being MY friend.

RIP Ms. Shirley. You are missed; missed by your girls, your grandbabies, your family, friends and loved ones. Now instead of your smile lighting up a room, it now lights up the Heavens. I fondly remember this memory and I want to share. I was working for Ms. Shirley and i wad getting off a little early to go on a date. Now bear in mind I was only going fishing So I had my hair in a high pony tail. Well Ms. Shirley asked how I was wearing my hair... I told her in a pony tail loke I have now...Well she decided that was not how I was going to wear my hair and she got on the phone and callef down to my co worker Ms. Kathy and asked her do something w/ my hair because it was not suitable for a first date. So off I went. She always made me feel welcome in her office..i never felt like i was just an employee but a friend. When my mom passed away in 2012 Ms Shirley reached out to me telling me she would always be here for me and all I had to do was pick up the phone. Now I have 2 special angels watching over me.

I had the pleasure of working with Shirley at the Red Cross. She was my mentor and guided me through different positions throughout the years. She was also a great friend who was always looking out for me. She also respected my situation when it came to my mom and that really meant a lot to me. I will always remember her smile and her voice. Rest in peace love. I'll see you again.

Maria Owens.

Every time I had chance to interact with you, you always had a smile and were so kind. I was the girl along for the ride at the "laundry exchanges" but u never once treated as anything other than family. In your own low you thought to save an animal. Your kindness knew no bounds. You were truly the best mom I have ever known. U r missed deeply.

My dear dear sister.. I have no idea how to live my life without you in it. You were always there for me, to listen when no one else would and to understand when no one else could. I always knew that I could count on you, and you were always willing to do whatever you could to help me. I always loved being with you, cause you would make everyone around you happy. It didn't matter where you were, you would talk to anyone, and I always wished that I could be like you in that way. I am honored to be your "baby sister" and I will try my best to do things the way you would have wanted them done. I stayed in denial about your illness, and part of me is still in denial now, as it is too hard to know that you are gone. So, day by day as life goes on here, a part of my life will never be the same, but I believe that one day you will be there to guide me through Heaven's gate. You already earned your wings here on earth, and all those who knew you, know that you were the definition of an Angel. I know your family and loved ones have a true guardian Angel now. .Thank you for all you did for me, and for always being there. Until we meet again, you will be always remembered and forever in my heart. Love Always, Debbie
