Funeral services for Shirley M. Schulz age 82 of Wisner, NE will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, rural Bancroft, NE. Rev. James P. Carretto is officiating with interment in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner and will continue on Wednesday from noon until the time of the service at the church. The family suggests that memorials be directed to The Daily Chapel Program heard on KWPN Radio in West Point.
Shirley passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, NE.
Shirley May (Metzger) Schulz was born on March 18, 1933 at rural Scribner, NE to Clifton and Lydia (Wegner) Metzger. She was baptized at the Trinity Lutheran Church-Scribner and later confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Bancroft. Shirley attended Dodge Co. Rural School District #25 and Zion Lutheran Parochial School. On April 9, 1950, she married Delvin Miller at the Zion Lutheran Church, rural Bancroft and to this union four children were born. They later divorced.
Shirley was employed at the Wisner Care Center for several years. On October 2, 1993, she married Harold D. Schulz. The couple resided at West Point, NE. After Harold passed away, Shirley returned to Wisner and helped her daughter Cindy at her business Hillcrest Photography.
Shirley was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wisner, NE.
