A Fond Memory
Nana has lived with me most of my life. I still remember when I was 6 years old and the way she would get me to go to sleep.
She would always put a movie on (Blackbeard's Ghost, Snowball Express, Cassanova's Big Night, One of our Dinosaur's is missing and last but not least, 7 Brides for 7 Brothers).
She would always tell me that she would race me to Sleepy Town. I would ask her to tell me when she got there, but she never did :)
Well, she made it there the other day and she beat me too it.
Have an awesome time in Heaven!
I Love you and miss you with all my heart.
Oh Nana, I'm gonna miss you so much.
One of the things I love about her most was her child like enthusiasm. The minute you set a gift or a piece of cake or candy in front of Nana, her face lite up like a kid! When we tried to make each person wait their turn to open their gift at Christmas, she would lift up a corner of the gift wrap and try to peak inside...it was easier to convince Gracie to wait to open her presents then it was Nana. hahaha.
For the last year or so, I am so grateful that Nana lived with us. It gave me a chance to get to know her better, and we had this little understanding between us...I would ask her if she needed anything from the grocery store, and she would tell me a few things and then kinda a wink at me...I knew the wink meant "get me some candy"...So I would sneak her a snicker or butterfinger every now and again. Now, I never really could figure out if it's because she loved them or because she realized Gracie was going to climb up in her lap and persuade her to "share."
I'm so proud that Nana is one of Gracie's (Gracelynn Mae) namesakes. The look on Nana's face when Gracie was in the room was priceless, and I will never forget it. She just lit up like a Christmas tree...and so did Grace. Almost every morning I would get up and go in the kitchen and Nana and Gracie would be sitting at the table eating peanut butter toast together, and just talking up a storm. I have no idea what Gracie was saying, but Nana sure seem to know...they just had this amazing connection. Yesterday was tough for me, I could hear Gracie in her playroom on her "telephone," and she was talking to Nana. It broke my heart until I realized that more then likely Nana was talking to Gracie. I'm sure Nana was telling Gracie how beautiful heaven is and telling her the importance of having the Lord in her heart. It gives me great comfort to know that Nana will be watching over Gracie through her life.
We are going to miss you Nana, but I know your in heaven watching over of us, and I'm blessed to have known you for the short time that I did. Save a place for us in heaven. Love you.
