Families from other parts of California, Ohio, Canada and Hong Kong.

That was a memorable time. Look at the sweet smiles of Peter and Monica. We made a couple of great trips to Banff, Jasper and Drumhellar to see the dinosaur museum. His best friend Fok Kam Ming and his wife Rose came down from Edmonton to join us. We went to the Calgary Zoo. I think a very small section was just opened after the great 2013 Calgary Big Flood in June. But those were the most interesting and unique sections in the whole zoo, the Penguin Plunge and the Prehistoric Park with many life size dinosaurs.

A loving couple

Peter was such as a good hushand. During his treatment, he worried more about Monica than himself...

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18English Standard Version (ESV)

13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. 14 For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. 15 For this we declare to youby a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.

Because of Peter’s passion working with hands and tools, at the age of 8 (grade 3, that’s how I remember), Peter got a vice for his birthday from mom and dad. Using a piece of metal, and the template from mom’s (or dad’s) key, he made the house key which worked fantastically. Never owning a house key before at that age, we were both very excited. Being his younger sister, so dumb to think and to do anything, what he made (or rather invented) for himself, he always made one for me. I think I was in grade one. Dad was furious for fear that if we lost they keys, or some bad guys got it, we would be in trouble as we were still too young to possess a house key. That’s how capable and smart he was. No wonder, when he got sick in 2011 with cancer, and forced to retire in 2012, he was a well-beloved, successful forensic scientist for the US government federal lab.  Sometimes, he told me some interesting cases he cracked at work which included crimes, murders, scams, drugs at the federal level. He called his 4 analysts “Charlie’s Angels”.  Yes, there are tons and tons of stories about him that I want to share and I can never finish it. My beloved brother, you will live in my heart forever."

It was only 10 days ago, after his breakfast (just a very small bowl of cereal) and his pain killer morphine dosage, I laid him to bed. Despite the fact that he said he was ok, from his facial expression, I knew he was in a lot of pain. I said good bye to him and told him that I was leaving for the airport.  All he said was “remember to send my best regards to Wilson (my husband), Sandi (my daughter) and Andre (my son-in-law)." In pain, he still put everybody else in front of himself.

Peter and I started to worked at U.S. Customs Laboratory about the same time in 1990. Peter worked from the private industry in North Carolina prior to his job for the government. He is very knowledgeable on his areas of expertise particularly on textile science and technology. He likes to share and teach others of his expertise.
I remember Peter as a very kind, patient and understanding person. He is a person who can not say "no" to someone. He will go out of his way to help others. He likes to enjoy life but at the same time he has a strong commitment to his work. I admire Peter for his strong endurance. Peter will be missed forever.
