Simon began his medical residency at USC county hospital. Simon and Ana lived in the beautiful city of Glendale, CA.  Then on February 21, 1982, they had their first child Michael Solis. Just 14 months later, they had their second child. She was born on Mothers Day on May 10, 1983 therefore they named her after her mother.   Simon bought his first home in 1986 in the city of Walnut, CA. He loved Walnut since there was less businesses around and less traffic. He could relax or enjoy playing sports and go swimming in his pool. 1986 was an important year for Ana and Simon because they had their third child, Jennifer Solis. Also in 1986, Simon opened his Medical practice and named it La Familia Medical Group.  Ana and Simon were inseparable so of course his wife Ana was named the office manager.   Ana, Simon, Michael, Ana, and Jenny shared wonderful memories growing up in Walnut, CA. Simon made them laugh, showered them with gifts, and loved them with all his heart.

In Chicago, Simon had to get used to the freezing sub zero temperatures. Chicago weather was nothing like the warm tropical climate in Mexico.  He also had to learn a whole new language.  Simon loved books and loved learning something new everyday. He enrolled in college to learn English and in just a few years he enrolled in the University of Chicago.  In 1974, he met a beautiful Cuban woman by the name of Ana who was also enrolled in the university.  They loved to go out dancing and eating pizza out by the shores of lake Michigan. Also that same year, Simon was accepted to Rush Medical School. In 1976, Ana and Simon Married in the city of Miami, Florida. In 1979, Simon Solis would graduate and earn his Medical Degree. That year Simon had to choose a hospital to do his residency. He had never been to Los Angeles, but he had heard good things about it especially the warm weather. Simon left Chicago after 16 amazing years. He definitely had a lot of good memories but he knew it was time to say good bye.

Mexico City

April 25, 2012

Simon Solis moved to Mexico City in his teenage years to attend "secundaria" which is the equivalent to high school here in the United States. He lived with family members including his brothers Augustine and Elio and his sister Rosa. In High School he was able to get a job at a hotel filled with American Executives. There was one Polish executive in particular that took a liking to his customer service and invited him to come visit Chicago, Illinois.  Simon of course was very spontaneous and adventurous as a teenager. He took him up on his offer and at the age of 18 years old in 1964, Simon moved to Chicago to embark on another journey.

Lazaro Cardenas

April 25, 2012

Simon Solis was born in the beautiful town of Lazaro Cardenas Michoacan on October 8, 1946. On that night, the famous Draconid meteor shower produced “meteor storms” in which shooting stars were produced at rates of 10,000 per hour or even more.  His mother loved to talk about how she remembers the stars falling from the skies as she was giving birth.

Larazo Cardenas was his favorite place to visit. He couldn't wait to visit his family and reminisce on his childhood years. He loved to run along the beach, jump in the water for a swim and enjoy fresh seafood while enjoying life with his loved ones.
