Who was Mishael N Akwiwu

Mishael was born into the family of late Chief S.O. Akwiwu and late Mrs. Mercy Akwiwu of Ogwuaga village- Abba in Nwangele Local Government Area. He was born on the 16th of June 1936 as the Second of a set of twins with Mrs Dora C Emenike. He was Chief SO Akwiwu's 4th son. He had his elementary education in St Cyprian’s school Port Harcourt, Central school Anara, St. John’s school Isu as well as Central school Ihiala- Anambara State, before he gained admission into St. Augustine Grammar school Nkwerre, all in the former Eastern Region of Nigeria. While in St Augustine's Chief Mishael Akwiwu made some of the lasting friendships that has seen him through thick and thin. Notable of these is his friendship with Chief Isaac Achonu and Chief Felix Ogbonna both from Nkwerre town

He had a brilliant career at school as he distinguished himself in the West African School Certificate Examination in 1955. On leaving school, he decided to engage himself in repositioning his father’s transport business instead of pursuing further education in the United Kingdom, as was the vogue then. ths sacrifice which was typical and second nature made Misahel the only child of late Chief SO Akwiwu who did not have the opportunity to go tthrough a higher institution of learning. 

He married an equally hard working and charming lady- Ogechukwu, whose efforts complimented her husband’s success. They are blessed with nine children- five females and four males- all of whom have passed through various universities qualifying in diverse careers including, accounting, engineering, medicine and law to name a few. 

Chief Mishael Akwiwu was an outgoing personality, a loving husband and caring father who did not spare anything in ensuring the comfort of his family. Despite his limited education he was a great communicator and spoke excellent English. He was nibkanemd teacher by his nephews and nieces from his older brother. His hobby was to play the word game Scrabble and it was always a tough battle to win him at a game. He believed in widening his knowledge through travel and was widely travelled both in Europe America and Africa.

Sir M.N. Akwiwu was a hard worker and upbeat/ready to get the work done kind of person. He ran a transport haulage business Mishad Transport with his late friend and partner Chief Shadrach Amaechi. Years after Chief Amaechi's demise he managed his own company - Mishael Ventures. 
Sir Mishael Akwiwu was diagnosed with early signs of Parkinson's disease (a movement disorder) in 1997 and was faithfully manged by his wife and children going annually to the UK for check up since Year 2000.  In 2011, as aresut of advanced Parkinson's disease Chief Akwiwu had two fall and subsequently a subdural hematoma. He had a craniotomy performed in August 2011 to drain the bleed and recovered as best as could be given the underlying Parkinsons. He succumbed to a chest infection complicating his illness.
He is survived by his wife,
his children -Ochi, Ijeuru, Nkechi, Kelechi, Azubuike, Obiageli, Chisom and Ndubuisi(aka Ogbonna) and Ujunwa

Two daughters inlaw-  Valerie and Chidinma
19 grandchildren (15 grandsons and four grand daughters)
