Sister Edith Virginia Perryman Carter was born May 8, 1927 to the late Raymond and Julia Perryman.  She was united in holy matrimony to the late J. T. Carter on December 29, 1945.  This union was blessed with 12 children.

Sister Carter was a member of St. Paul C.M.E. Church for many years.  She was preceded in death by her eldest son James T. Carter and great grandson Katteron K. Reid.

She leave to cherish her memories, four daughters, Julia (Bobby) Ballard, Eddie Earl Carter, Pauline Carter, Willie Eva Carter, and two sons John Henry (JoAnn) Carter, Bobby Lee Carter; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-nine great grandchildren, two daughters-in-law, Barbara J. Carter and Brenda Carter; one brother James M. Perryman and one sister Mary Ann Holt; four sisters-in-law,  Emma Perryman, Mary G. Perryman, Annie L. Perryman and Martha Perryman, one brother-in-law, Harry L. Hixson and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and a very devoted family friend, Ethel Salter.
