Big Teddy Bear Skip. As I write this, am filled with mixed emotions - tears mixed with good memories.  A smart guy (you married Cindy!), who loved your family - right down to the in-laws & out-laws. A fun loving, teasing, outgoing friend with a witty comeback to every poke I gave you. Couldn't get ahead of you.  You and Cindy have been such gracious hosts & to top it off you cooked the best meals!  Any guy who loved kitty cats as much as you has to have a pretty big heart & has a soft spot in my heart.
Thank you for taking care of my cousin & family.
Sending our Love, Hugs & Prayers,
Don & Terry

Skippy, I guess I will start from the beginning when you and Wayne became friends through business while you worked at Art Iron. At that point on a couples friendship developed thru the years with lots of wonderful memories including our Rider-Cup Golf Tournaments, vacation in New Smyrna Beach, Fl., canoe trip, and our many week-end trips to visit you and Cindy at a new home and job location. It was no secret how Wayne fell in love with Nashville and your home on the 5th tee box at Legacy Golf Course. We had such great times with our many trips to Opryland Hotel, downtown Nashville and best of all our week-end stays at "The Coolman 5 Star Bed and Breakfast".
You and Wayne have to take care of one another now since neither of you have your Guidance Counselor by your side. It was a pleasure to know you.
Until we meet again.
Love, thoughts and prayers to you Cindy and family!

Harold and Cindy Brewer, Brett’s parents:
We had the pleasure of meeting Skip on a number of occasions and were very much aware of his love of family, his good humor, and the recipients of his generosity in sharing his talents of making great pickles and other garden delicacies. He was never at a loss of a good story and shared with joy. A caring husband, father, and friend. We cherish his memory and his family.

Grandpa, it's been a rough week. Its finally hitting me and I'm not sure what to do exactly. I'm very disappointed in myself that you never got to see me succeed like you always wanted. I cant thank you enough for NEVER giving up on me. I hope you continue to push me in the right direction because I need it.
I will never forget all the good times we had out in the garage, on the golf course, and driving around. There was never a dull moment with us 2 around. From our serious talks to making fun of grandma. You will be missed!! I LOVE YOU

We will surely miss you Skip. I am so glad we got to know you. He was such a blessing to our neighborhood by bringing us together. I enjoyed our evening talks and listening to his life stories. He was gifted at organizing people, an encourager, ever welcoming, always willing to help out, our go-to person for technology advice, and an all around great guy.

One of the best brother--in-laws anyone could ever have. Always letting Brenda and I stay at your house whenever we wanted. As much as you may not believe, I always looked forward to the landscaping projects in the spring and fall; they kept me busy. You and Cindy always wanted to pay me, I would tell you, nothing you're letting us stay here at your house. However, you guys would either fix us the best meal in town or get tickets for a show at the Opry. Enjoyed playing golf together and being welcomed in the neighborhood gathering place with drinks and good conversation. Enjoyed your tours, which routes to take and your knowledge of the history of your areas. Will be greatly missed.

Skip and I were neighbors in addition to being colleagues with the City of Springfield. His wife, Cindy and I initially coordinated the day of the week we were going to mow grass while Skip was inside cooking dinner. For whatever reason we got off schedule and one started watching the other mow. When my aunt passed away in 2011, Skip was so kind to mow my grass while I was away taking care of family business. That was extremely kind of him. No other neighbor made the gesture. Prior to Skip retiring, he was also my taxi driver on the weekdays that it snowed because the City didn’t close for any reason. And just recent, I was emailing him constantly because I wanted to order masks with my church logo on it and the original needed to be a minimum resolution. Skip helped me without hesitation. He even offered to look for a company that would make the masks for me. I wish I could have shown him the final product and I also wish I could have shown him that his hard work and labor was not in vain. Skip and Cindy were missed as neighbors and it hurts my heart to know that I will never be able to talk and/or email him again. RIP Skip!

I met this great person in Jaycees. Delta soon had a great relationship with Montpelier. This was my my first experience in winning a challenge and being paid off in Weidimans PREMIUM BEER, with great laughs, we all drank every damn one of those 48 beers....,and laughed and lied through them all.

Frank, Keith, Terry, Gary, Terry we all truly enjoyed driving to LOCO territory. However we were extremely happy when our JAYCEE BROTHER moved to Delta and our friendship grew even stronger.  I am sure that all of us feel blessed that Skip was in our lives.

I still find it hard to believe. Your memories fall from my eyes frequently. Loving, jokester, funny, tour guide, chef, computer genius and my personal ticket master. So many fond memories- happy sad.
Golfing with you in the rain and wearing white shorts was quite an adventure.
The many times you would call and tell me my "frog" relatives were being too loud, even following you to Florida.
I will miss you terribly until we see each other again. Love you

Loving, giving, kind, fun seeking, helpful, caring, loyal, generous, creative, fair, friendly, happy, humorous, accepting...
All these qualities I knew in Skip. Truly we have lost a man who is one in a million.
Even through my tears, I can't help but smile when I think of Skip. Always welcomed you with a smile and hug. And when we meet again I know Skip will smile and throw open his arms for that BIG hug.

Skip had a great sense of humor, and we loved to play jokes on employees or neighbors. He made the best apple butter in the world, plus the pickles and jams. He was such a good neighbor to drive me to work on those big snow days in Tennessee (or little snow days). He was so kind and always brought my parents canned goods. They loved Skippy. Surely he was the marketing manager for The Villages because he frequently sent drone videos and newsletters of all the construction and fun activities. He told me I would love it there. I miss seeing Skip, and I'm praying for Cindy and the family. Just thinking of Skip makes me smile. I certainly can't forget college football season when Skip wore his Ohio State shirt and I had my Tennessee Vols colors on. We had some fun times at City Hall!

Thank you Skip for your kindness, and for giving me pickles. I enjoyed them very much.  Please forgive me for having gone to UM ( but I was only there for a year).
Thank you for supporting the AED program. I promise to work with our neighbors to make the program the best it can be, as I think you would want. You made McClure more than a sub-divison, a community of neighbors helping neighbors.

Skipper
Still can't believe you are gone, you and Cindy were so excited about retirement in my "home state"! I told you about how exciting The Villages were and how you had to get a "souped up golf cart" before they would accept you!! I will always remember your "buckeye" candy at Christmas and you famous words when I would call you about a computer problem, "Turn it off and back on", so I started saying when I called you " I already turned it off and back on and it's still broke"!!!
Silence on your end while you were typing up a ticket for Local Gov't!! You were always fun to be around, Go rest high Skip! Love and Prayers to Cindy & Family

Skippy -Dippy I am so sad to hear of your passing. My thoughts and prayers are with your wife and children. You were always fun to be around and my favorite thing you use to say.... awe, it just needs a new keyboard-which was your way of saying I’m not fooling with it! For the first time ever I’ll say it for you, Go Buckeyes!

Skip was a person who went out of his way with time and effort to enhance our Haven Villas Community. We won a drawing at the first monthly potluck but I had trouble getting in contact with the Village people. Skip called me to see how we liked the trip and when I said we didn’t go he got on the case and next thing we were on the bus to Tiffany Museum in Winter Park. One of our best days in FL. He was just that caring and helpful. We will surely miss him and waving everyday! Denny and Kay

Skip will be sorely missed here in our community. He was a friend and a leader, organizing social events, a food drive and coordinating progress on AEDs in our neighborhood. His door was always open. He kept us informed about impending rough weather, the latest on construction and new stores coming to our area, when Villages Grown fresh vegetables would be in our neighborhood, even when to change our smoke detector batteries. Thanks for being my friend. I am better for having known you. I've no doubt you are already serving well in your new home. We will miss you Skip.

I met Skip and Cindy a little over a year when I moved to The Villages from Ohio. They were sitting out on their lanai one day as I was walking by with my dog, Quincy, and I saw an Ohio State sign and went in to say hi ... and a friendship was started from there. Skip took me around in his golf cart to help me get acquainted with my new home. He also helped me with computer questions. I found out he liked to bake and I got some of his brownies a couple times which were delicious. Often over the past year I would walk by their house and Skip and Cindy would be sitting there on the lanai. Quincy knew immediately it was their house and would drag me up there because he knew Skip would give him treats every time he came. But Skip said he had to sit for them before he would get any. And Quincy did! Quincy and I will miss our lanai chats about the weather, Ohio, and of course the Buckeyes. Rest in peace, Skip.

I didn’t know Skip long but in that short time he made an impact on Myself and so many. Skip was an extremely sociable person. Anyone was invited into his lanai, the normal gathering place, to share conversation or a beverage. Skip and Cindy had the entrance corner lot where they saw everyone drive in, always waved and many would stop to chat. Skip was the one who organized our monthly gatherings at the rec center before Covid. Skip was the one who sent out emails about what was happening in our neighborhood. Even for the pets who frequently stopped by, he had treats and toys and even “flavored” ice for my Callie. He will surely be missed by all. Just a giant of a kind soul.

Memories from long ago

Skip, I will never forget you. I was telling my neighbor about you today. When I use to watch Melody at the house on Madison Street, Montpelier, those were and always will be very fond memories for me. You helped make me who I am!
Until we meet again.....
And I know who's up there with you watching over all of us!

Friendly and Welcoming

August 12, 2020
I didn't  know Skip very long but he was always welcoming and friendly.  He would say Nellie stop by any time, have a beer.  Skip and Cindy's home is the place everyone in the neighborhood would stop by on their way home, chat, drink and get updates on the goings on around here, it's always a good time.  Skip was always on top sending emails to the neighborhood, coordinating outings, once a month gatherings, and sending jokes and uplifting notes during this difficult time of isalation.   It was nice to see all the pictures of his life since I only knew him a short time.
He will be greatly missed.

A friend in need is a friend indeed!

Skip was my first friend in Tennessee. His smile was always a welcome in his house. As neighbors we had a blast keeping each other busy playing golf or climbing down in the basement during a storm. We love both of you and we are looking ahead when we all get to Heaven and spend eternity forever and see that smiling face once again. Bryan & Diane Thomas
