Her Life

One of Sophie's many Poems

Cocoon

I'll stay within my womb for a while.

Outside winds blow winter past autumnal trees-

leaves, blown into frenzies,

change because of a retracting sun.

To stay, to become-

To stay.

Warm within.

Outside will make you yield!

Wisdom's composer awaits me,

and will rely on the breath of my hearing.

Deep crescendos of bliss-

life's notes sculpt worth out of a living tree's lifeless limbs.

From a grain of mahogany.

Chisel Chrysalis

to a smooth surface,

the new skin of creation.

I breathe my liquid air,

and listen to its current

fill this space,

until-

Life,

forces me from this cocoon to the next.
