My favorite times about Papa Stan

June 22, 2014

Papa Stan was a wonderful grandfather. He was so calm and helpful. I really wish he could still be here with us. It was such a shock when he died. I was with him on Thursday and I was wishing to see him again. But he will be in my heart forever and I will never forget him.

My favorite things about Papa Stan from Sean (age 7)

June 22, 2014

My favorite thing is that he would take us out for ice cream. I love him and I wanted to know more about him. I wanted to be really good to him and to know what he was really about. I really wish I could just fish with him. Without him here I feel sad.

I feel so very lucky and honored to have known Stan and to have had him as my father-in-law. From the very first day I met him (at Kathren and John's wedding!) he accepted me into the family. He was so gracious, generous, considerate, and loved being a part of all aspects of our life, be it a relaxed dinner in the chaos of our home, or sitting on the sidelines cheering his grandchildren on at their various soccer or basketball games. He was always there, always present. I will miss him terribly.

Zip lining

June 18, 2014

Zip-linning in Costa Rica with my Dad was such a thrill! We zipped through 8 different cables. This picture was taken while Stan was traveling over the highest cable at 656 ft. My Dad talked about this adventure later in the day and mentioned to Linda that he wouldn't have gone on this zip line if it weren't to go along with me. Thanks for teaching me to be adventurous and to push the limits. You are and always will be My Hero! I love you and will miss you dearly. Love, Kathren

Costa Rica Zip Line

June 18, 2014

Zip-linning in Costa Rica with my Dad through 8 different cables; the fastest at 50mph, the longest at 2490 ft, the highest at 656 ft was truely a vacation that I will cherish the rest of my life. My Dad talked about this adventure later in the day and mentioned to Linda that he wouldn't have gone on this zip line if it weren't to go along with me.  Thanks for the great adventure Dad! You are and always will be My Hero! I love you and will miss you dearly. Love, Kathren

We had the pleasure of meeting Stan just a few times over the years, at his grand- children’s Alex and Sean’s Birthday celebrations.   He was always welcoming to us, patient with the kids and seemed happy to be in the midst of family.

We didn’t know him well, but I like to think we knew him best through his son Erik, who is quick witted, loving and so fun to be around and through his grandchildren Alex and Sean, who are bright and equally loving.

Now that’s a joyful legacy to remember him by.

travel with Stan and Linda

June 17, 2014

My husband Dwight and I traveled to New England and also to Santa Fe with Stan, Linda, my sister Gloria and brother in law Phil.  We were hopeing that we would be able to take another trip with the six of us as it was wonderful traveling with Stan & Linda. Stan was a lovely person to spend time with, He was comfortable, interesting, fun, excellent company, every thing you would wish for in a travel companion. He and I especially wanted to see the Clark Museum in Mass. so we made the others back track one day so we could see that small wonderful museum. We have fond memories of traveling with Stan and LInda and we are sorry that there will not be another trip in our future with Stan. I am sorry that there were only 2 but they were both wonderful and I am so glad that we had them.
