Stan and I were always joking around when we hung out or talked. when he was in Florida during winter months he often would call me and ask "is it cold there ? Its 80 some degress here and Im getiing ready n to go fishin. just to get me because he knew it was freezing here in Michigan and there was litte to do.
last summer on June 25th (yes i remember the date) he called my cell while I was at my sisters place on Crockery lake. Told me he was at the flea market it was terribly hot business was terribly slow and what customers he had were rude and went on to tell me what a lousy day he was having. I told him ya know what its payback time Stan. " I am sitting on a pontoon boat drinking a cold beer and catching lots of blue gill and having a great time. We both busted out laughing. ...... Ill remember the conversation forever because it was the last time i talked to him. I miss that guy so much.
Still Shedding A Tear or Two
It is still hard to believe you are gone. I wait for this time of year when you'd start teasing me and giving me grief. I remember the last time I saw you. It was on Bear's birthday at our house. Again, I see your smile. Man I miss your smile. You gave me the biggest hug goodbye. You'd love the great nephew and niece you have. AJ is so me and Macie is so Stan. Usually as parents you tell your kids "I hope you have one just like you." Well Bear & Pat got one just like me. Of course that's not so bad. I talk to Stan Jr and Kathy about every month. They are doing well. You'd be having fun fishing right now with Dan & Pat. Someday in heaven you all can fish together. Love you Stan, Judy (of course your favorite sister but don't tell Beth, she's very sensitive about these things).
A camping story
I remember going camping/ fishing for the weekend with him. we left with no real game plan as to where we were going or staying. stan did however find a real neat secluded rustic spot with a pond for fishing. Stan thought pitching a tent was too much of a bother, so he said lets "rough it "and sleep out under the stars, I reluctently agreed....... as our luck would have it it started to rain late at night , I retreated to the bed of my pickup and Stan jumped in the cab The rain was short lived but I was awaken like at 3 am because my truck was rocking, I looked through the back window only to see he had left a window partially open and the dome light on and he was frantically swattin away a swarm of mosquitos that were trying to feast on him. It was the funniest moment of the weekend . ( to me at least) We had a great time
Stan and friends at a bar-b-que
Every time I light a grill or prepare some charcoal I am reminded of all the great times Stan, Dave and I had when we bar-b-qued at Daves house. Our kids were still young and inocent, doing prety much what they wanted to do since the three of us men were so involved in preparing our meat. (Beth, I hope you know how hard it is keeping this story clean. I can here Stan laughing now.)
Dave usually prepared the veggies and rice, I prepared the grill and helped Stan season what ever we were grilling. Now you have to understand that Stan and I were very adiment on how things should be cooked and seasoned, yet we never disagreed when cooking at Dave's. One day at my house with just my wife and daughter, we were at the dinner table eating some steaks I had just cooked and my daughter said to me "I like Stans steaks better". The funny thing was, she was right, he could cook.
Thanks to Stans influence on my daughter she is the official seasoner when we bar-b-que.
I realy miss those days. Thanks Stan and Dave for such memmories.
John
We all remember Stan for his smile. He was usually smiling. Except for a few minutes last year when fishing in the canoe and he tipped it not once but twice. He wasn't real happy at the moment. Then, after he starts telling the story he's telling it with a smile and laughing at himself. Oh, to see his smile here on earth, one more time.
I remember mom and dad bringing Stan home from the hospital. Yes, a baby brother. Growing up, one of his favorite songs was Sneaky Snake. He loved white bread and would sneak into the middle of the loaf, take a bite out of the center, put the piece back and wait until someone found that piece. One time Stan was so mad at me, he got my older sister to short-sheet my bed with him. I took him to his first Chuck Norris movie. I remember when he was younger, he climbed the tree in the back yard and got stuck - mom had to climb up and get him down. I remember all the fun times at the cabin. He was a wonderful brother but he could be such a pain in the butt. His eyes would sparkled. He loved life and he loved his wife, son, family, and friends. He loved having fun and making sure others did too. He could tick you off one minute and turn right around and make you laugh the next. I'm so going to miss him and our summers together celebrating birthdays as a family but we will begin anew while remembering until we see each other again.
My Brother...
He was my best friend from the time my parents brought him home. We were always together. If not..we knew where each other were. He grew into a kind-hearted, loving and givng man. When he moved to Florida in 1989, I knew I would miss him, and that I did. He would come back to Michigan in the summer and stay with me. He loved to go to the cabin and hang out, go fishing, just being in the woods. The hardest thing I watched him go through was, staying with our dad at the hospital. But he did it. He took care of him. Now he is Resting in Peace with him. Stan loved his family, many friends and life with his whole heart. He touched a lot of people in many ways. We will always remember him and carry him in our hearts.
I LOVE YOU STAN AND WILL MISS YOU!!!

Meeting Stan and His Son
It was a typical hot Florida day in Zephyrhills. My daughter had just finished her first swimming lesson at the YMCA. Like any typical kid, she was begging me to let her play on the play set outside in the blistering heat. Maybe I would have been just as excited if I just spent the last hour swimming in a cool pool. Never the less I took her out there to play.
When she got outside, she met Stanley for the first time, already playing and having fun. As I watched the two of them playing together, I hear a voice from behind mutter, "why are we sweating when there the ones playing". I immediately began to laugh. This was the first time I met my buddy Stan.
Stan was the type of person to break the ice in a comical manner to start a conversation and make you feel comfortable. This is how he treated everyone. He has impacted my life in a great way and I will always remember him.
I love you man.
