Stanley Brown    

GLASFORD - Stanley C. Brown, 76, of 306 E. Fifth St. passed away at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, in the emergency room at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

Born July 2, 1933, in Dallas City to Ernest and Hazel (Stanley) Brown, he married Mary Lou Simpson on Dec. 10, 1955, in Fort Madison, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his wife on May 28, 2000.

Surviving are one daughter, Cindy (Terry) Holliger of Goodfield; two sons, Thomas Brown and Stanley W. Brown, both of Glasford; three grandchildren, Kristy (Aaron) McCarty and Kelly Holliger, both of Goodfield, and Cody Brown of Glasford; and one sister, Karen (Donald) Nichols of Dallas City.

Stan had owned and operated Stan's Barber Shop in Glasford since 1957.

He served in Germany with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Stan was a member of Glasford American Legion Post 35 for 43 years. He was also a member of Pekin Moose Lodge 916.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and dining out and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.

His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Glasford Baptist Church. Pastor Paul Cook will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel and 45 minutes prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery in rural Glasford. Military graveside honors will be provided by the U.S. Army and Glasford American Legion Post 35.
