His Life

Thank You

July 6, 2015

Welcome – and thank you for visiting this site to share with us our memories of Stan. Now that a few days have passed to gather our thoughts, we would like to express our thanks to all of those wonderful people that provided assistance over the past few years throughout Stan’s battle with his degenerating health.

First and foremost our thanks go out to all the family and friends who visited with Stanley and raised his spirits.  We could always tell when someone had been to visit, whether it was a happier Stan or the cookies or chocolates which he loved.

He had a rough go of it dating back three years when he had a small stroke.  The doctors and nurses at Hamot medical center and rehabilitation specialists at Health South were terrific. It seems that although there were signs of recuperation the next setback event inevitably occurred.

The VA Hospital became our go to for Stan’s care, special thanks to “Red Team” Lisa who went over and above not only to insure proper care, but also to advise on numerous matters navigating through the VA System.

All the people from Home Instead have our sincere thanks.  On very short notice they coordinated and provided care givers to help keep Stan comfortably at home for as long as possible.

In July 2014 it was apparent that Stan required more care than could be provided at home.  Once again we received excellent support from everyone at Pleasant Ridge East to ensure he was accommodated.  Additionally, the professionals at Lakeland Area Hospice provided additional medical care and were very helpful throughout Stan’s remaining stay in Erie.

In November he moved to the Soldiers and Sailors facility. The nursing staff always provided for his needs. The network of support volunteers, (can you say BINGO?), ranging from the various American Legion & VFW Chapters to local school groups was amazing, those  individuals that support not just Stan, but all of our veterans should be commended.
