His Life

Stan the Man!

February 1, 2016

Mr Stanley Henry Anthony Adetokunbo Robbin was born to Anthony Sholanke and Gladys Patricia Robbin on the 23rd of May 1943 in Liverpool. The first of two children, Stanley grew up doing jobs before school (shovelling manure) etc.  He would bring his Sister (Eniola) home from school and get the Tea ready!

His family migrated from the UK to Nigeria and Stanley went on to attend Baptist Academy Lagos and later Yaba College of Technology.  He then worked at Iddo Plastics, A C Christlieb (Trebor Nigeria Ltd), Hienien & Solomon, and went on to become the Operations Manager that oversaw the construction of the Agbara Factory at the Company now known as Glaxo Smithkline.

In the intervening years before returning to the UK in 1994, Stan lived life to the fullest. He learnt how to fly a Cessna Twin Engine Plane and got his Private Pilot’s Licence. He became a Rally Driver and multiple Snooker champion, he was a member of the Judo Club, practiced Karate, held memberships with Apapa and Ikoyi Rotary Clubs etc.  He drove speed boats, fished for Shark and Baracuda and was a Cool Auctioneer at the Horseracing Night at the Apapa Club!

Stan loved to dance and had a flair for the dramatic as he joined the Apapa Club dramatic Society and became one of the henchmen to kidnap Snow White. LOL!

For Stan, Star Trek, Space 1999, John Wayne, Bruce Lee, Cleopatra Jones, Bond Movies Action Movies were the order of the day. His love of Sci Fi continued till the final Frontier! NCIS, CSI, Expendables, a good Western or Motor Sports with Coffee and Cookies, and Stan was sorted.

In 2010, Mr Robbin gave his life to Christ at HOP Lighthouse in Peckham.  This was to prove major as 2 years later he was diagnosed with dementia. As usual he took it in his matter of fact style, enjoying life to the best with a few escapades along the way!

Mr Stanley Robbin was married and had children. He is today survived by children and grandchildren.

So now he has boldly gone where we all must surely go, till we meet again to part no more!

Ciao!
