Steve,

In a family of characters you had the leading role. Do you remember 50 years ago today? It was a beautiful summer day. You, Mike and I put our bathing suits on and headed to South Attleboro.  A new Holiday Inn had recently opened … it had a large outdoor swimming pool. We had found a new swimming hole … not the wading pool at Capron Park, nor the “North Pool” or even Ocean Grove. And unlike The Bearcroft Swim Club, we went in the FRONT DOOR. .

Thank God for Mike and his newly aquiredcommon sense; I made it to St. Mary’s Church in Franklin for my wedding!

You were and are a great brother; your memory lives on!

God Bless.

Steve, Tom and I think of you and Mary often and remember the good times we shared with both of you.  We saw Sean and Shannon and their families at Sean’s house a couple of months ago.  They both have beautiful children and wonderful spouses.  You would be so proud of all of them.
Peace and love.

Sharkey,
You managed to find humor in the worst of things. As Mike said, we could really use you now. Who else could have remembered Joey Goring after 50 years? Your reaction to the pandemic would have been priceless! You are trulymissed.

On what would have been the 70th Birthday for Steve I would like to say that he is remembered and thought of on a daily basis. Nobody had a quicker wit and the ability to make people laugh ad smile then Sharky. Happy Birthday Brother.
Love,
Brian

Steve at Play

November 20, 2018

Today I am thinking of Steve  jumping behind the counter at Fuddruckers in Baltimore selling caps and shirts to unsuspecting tourists and diners. It was a prelude to his exchange with the hotel Bell Hop later that evening. He was the stuff legends are made of and will never be forgotten. Peace, Mike

42 Years of Friendship

September 10, 2017

Sue and I were not expecting this sad news when Mary called last month. Our hopes and prayers for Steve's complete recovery came crashing down. To say we are at a loss is a huge understatement. Ray's heart is broken.  Never have we had a friend who was always so completely alive and cheerful. Ray loved this man like a brother. Steve and Ray had a very special bond that goes back to their early days of working together at Calgon.

If ever there was a man who lit up a room when he walked in, it was Steve.

And Mary...how he loved you!! Everyone could see it when he looked at you. You were both a model of what a loving marriage is. We have shared so many happy times together as your kids and ours (Sean, Shannon, and Randy) have grown up and now have blessed us beyond measure with beautiful grandchildren. We are indeed friends forever. I know that there is much laughter in heaven upon Steve's arrival. Someday we will be together again. I know it.

Upon hearing the sad news we booked our flight to Providence right away and were scheduled to fly up from Wilmington, NC on Tuesday, September 12 to be at the funeral and burial. That said our flight was scheduled through Atlanta and Hurricane Irma has intervened and we have had to cancel our flight. With all of this chaos we are going to miss saying a "formal" goodbye to Steve, but rest assured that our prayers are with you Mary...and Sean and Shannon and your most awesome family. May God Bless you all!!
With Love, Ray and Sue George

Words of Wisdom

August 26, 2017

The Dee family will always remember a few choice words of wisdom that Steve imparted to our young sons!.  Unfortunately, I'm Not at liberty to share the information at this time.  Certainly, we will always remember Steve as a generous, entertaining friend, always willing to help and provide endless hours of enjoyment! Our thoughts are with Mary, Shannon, and Sean, and their families at this time.
It is with great sadness that I have to be writing this-we are sending hugs and prayers to everyone at this difficult time.

Brian has many stories to tell about the Walsh gang, but this is one of his favorites:

He was just 18 years old and very shy, on our first date.  Steve went up to him and said, " If you get my sister pregnant, we'll beat the shit out of you.  Then we'll welcome you to the family!"  He didn't know if he should run or stay!!

That was typical Steve until the end and how we will always remember him.
