Stephen Henry Satterwhite,73, a longtime resident of Granville County passed away Saturday, April 20, 2013 at his home.
A native of Granville County, the son of the late Willie Lee and Minnie Lee Tunstall Satterwhite. He attended Stem High School, served as a military police in the army, retired from Certainteed, a member and former deacon of Providence Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school for several years and a devoted husband, father and papa to his six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Providence Baptist Church by Dr. Randy Pittman. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-one years, Ruth Huff Satterwhite of the home, a daughter, Cindy S. Blackburn(David), three sons, Joey W. Satterwhite, Stephen H. Satterwhite Jr. (Kim), Donald E. Satterwhite , a brother, Julian Lee Satterwhite, three granddaughters, three grandsons, a great granddaughter and a great grandson all of Oxford. He was preceded in death by a grandson, David Michael Blackburn and two sisters, Frances S. Hall and June S. Stanley.
Visitation will be held Monday evening April 22, 2013 from 7:00-8:30 PM at the Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and at other times at the home.
