His Life

Mr. Wonderful

January 4, 2015

The irrepressible Steve Richardson was raised in Bogalusa, Louisiana with his sister Elizabeth "Boo" Smith and that is where he learned how to be a Southern gentleman and make a killer chocolate chess pie.

After working as a Senate page in Washington D.C. around the time of Watergate , he attended college at Duke University and also studied at Universite Paris Sorbonne.

After his studies, he landed in Los Angeles and began a long career in the film business, working primarily as a sound editor.  But he decided to pursue his dream of writing and gave up his settled life in southern California to enroll in graduate school at University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

From there, he ended up in New York where he worked on textbooks at McGraw-Hill and with Muhammed Ali at MGX Labs. He was most recently employed at Standard & Poor's in New York City.  He was also working on a documentary project about a charm school located in his hometown, Bogalusa.

And it was in Brooklyn, NY that Steve partnered with his ex-wife, Juliette, in raising their beloved son, Tate.

Tate was Steve's reason for being.  He said to more than one friend, "I never really knew what love was until Tate was born."

Steve's passing leaves a community of friends, family, and colleagues who are overcome with grief and sadness.

Steve treasured his sister and her family, his many friends from all over the world, and most of all, Tate.
