Stephen "Steve" Joseph Samford, 65, died September 4, 2014 at his home in Spring, Texas.


Rev. Samford was born July 13, 1949, in Houston, Texas, to Alfred and Alma Samford.  Steve began pastoring at the young age of 24.  He pastored several churches before joining the staff of the Assembly of God Tabernacle.  He left the Tab to pastor in Pleasanton, Texas.  After pastoring there just three short years, he became the South Texas District Youth Director.  He held that post for 8 years.  He left the District Office to pioneer a work in North Houston, Bethesda Christian Center.  He pastored Bethesda until his health failed in 2012.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Donna Samford; daughters Tammy Smith, and Trena Samford; grandchildren Sarah Smith, Joseph and Abigail Sodowsky; brother Raymon Samford.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Alfred and Alma Samford; brothers, Kenneth, Paul, Rev. Billy Mac, and Robert Samford; sisters, Alma Ruth Lee and Brenda Samford.
