September 11th now means a lot of things to a lot of different people especially after the 9-11 tragedy that came to our country 18 years ago. So many lives were lost due to a senseless act of violence. I feel for those families who relive that day every year when September 11th rolls back around. This year, 9-11 reminds me of a brother who would have celebrated his 78th birthday today as well as his 53rd wedding anniversary, but we lost him on March 5th. The void his death left in our hearts is still very fresh and painful but the memories are just as sweet, funny and alive as ever. My thoughts and prayers go out today to Steve's s wife and my sweet sister-in-law, Sharon and to his four beautiful children and their families. I'm missing my brother today as I'm sure you all are as he has now joined so many others who are "GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN".
Love you Steve.

I worked for Steve for 13 years.Lots of people arent lucky enough to have good memories of their boss, but I have nothing but fond, hilarious memories of Steve. He treated all his employees as true friends and not just as employees. He was a generous man with a good heart and i will forever be grateful for the opportunities that he gave me in life.

James and I moved to Oxford in 1986. I met a lot of his friends and "old cronies". They were all really nice and friendly but there was one who was absolutely "unique". STEVE DICKERSON! He walked up to me and said "Glory" welcome to Oxford but I'm sorry you are with that son of a ____! Then, he broke out in the biggest laugh and gave me a huge hug! He could always make me. laugh and feel better by talking to him. I don't ever believe he ever met a stranger. God blessed him with a wonderful wife, Sharon. If she was with Steve or talking about him, you could just see the love in her eyes and her whole face. The two of them made great children and that resulted in a loving , close knit FAMILY. We will miss you, Steve, but you will never be forgotten. Love, James and Gloria Land

As the baby sister of an amazing sibling line of six that was suddenly reduced to four yesterday morning at around 9:00 a.m, I write this with a heavy heart but with all the love I can bestow on my now belated brother and to his family. If you knew Steve, you know what is meant by the words "all around character" as he was affectionately described in his obituary, and that he truly was. But more than that, I knew him to not only be a loving son, brother, husband, dad and granddad but so much more than a lot of people had the opportunity to see and know as I did as his sister. As big and gruff as his outer appearance may have sometimes seemed, he was a huge teddy bear on the inside with a heart of gold for anyone and everyone, especially for anyone down on their luck or in need. He had a manner that endeared him to most anyone and everyone and he will be sorely missed in so many ways. That "character" is what will continue to live through his siblings, his wife, and his kids as family gatherings offer a time to reflect, laugh and remember all the crazy things that made Steve who he was and what he meant to all of us.  I love you brother and to Sharon, Paul, Dawn, Sandra and Lance: may those wonderful memories you have be the extension you need to the rock he was to you in your lives. Always know your family loves and supports you through this difficult time.
